  1. **** I actually miss Smitty...he really was the best coach we’ve had in recent years. I don’t consider Quinn good at all. He rode Shanahan all the way to the SB. The only great thing Quinn did was signing Shanahan since he’s been here .
  2. Quinn is worse than Mike Smith! I didn’t think that was possible but here we are. Smith at least ran a good run defense. We can’t even get that consistently out of Quinn on the defensive end. His teams stay getting torched. how long does it take to see that Quinn and his staff has had too many chances???? I’m sorry but Blank is an idiot if can’t find a reason to fire Quinn tonight .
  3. I’m not that pissed ...Quinn called the timeout to let the players know the ball had cootties. If that’s not a good coach then I don’t know what one is .
  4. I’m normally against overreactions but today was the day...I can’t handle it anymore! Quinn continues to play this soft zone coverage defense that the worse QB could even pick apart and he hires a staff that doesn’t know how to get it done. all for firing Quinn today
  5. Good for him! It seem like he actually may have broke the news first and He got some pretty nasty feedback from who I’d assume are Ain’t fans prior to Winston actually signing..... if you read the replies to this tweet you’ll see what I mean. ......now if he can just get this Clowney rumor to Atlanta right he may just have a new follower! Lmao
  6. Just excited! if it doesn’t work out, it just doesn’t work out ...as bad as we have been defensively we can only go up from here though. If we end up being bad as usual we’ll be the same as the past seasons defensively since Ryan was drafted.
  7. this guy is already a falcon fan favorite....amazing! I just hope he works out. Hate to put so much pressure on a young guy but if he’s a beast out the gates ...him, Jarrett, Fowler, Takk could not only be the best D line in the nfc south but also in the whole league. Even if he’s just solid and consistent the D line should be a strong unit
  8. I hope he’s right about him
  9. Does everyone truly believe Okudah is going to shutdown his side of the field like a Richard Sherman, Jalen Ramsey type immediately out the gate??? I don’t understand how my fellow Atlanta Falcon fans can be so in love with Dimi moving up into the top 5 and taking a CB knowing we don’t get consistent pressure on QBs. I’m not saying Okudah isn’t great or good or whatever but every great, good, avg, poor Defensive Back need that front 7 to do their job! It’s not like Okudah had a terrible D line in front of him at the college level. You go from playing with a disruptive D Line in college led by chase young to the falcons D line that’s considered poor in NFL and only consists of truly 2 good players in Jarrett and recently signed Fowler....you can’t truly believe Okudah is going to have instant impact with no consistent pass rush on top of a coach who doesn’t design many blitzes. I don’t get it, I don’t hate Okudah and I’m not claiming to be some expert but I can’t make sense out of a move up to draft a CB with this incomplete D line. Two good defensive lineman has never been enough here......we watched John Abraham and Jonathan babineaux be good and great for years together and yet the line was still very much incomplete outside of these 2 guys with no consistent pass rush. So those who want Okudah please help me understand what I’m missing?
  10. Someone explain the Okudah love to me? I’m not saying he isn’t talented cause he is very much talented but it doesn’t make sense to me to draft a Defensive Back when we don’t have a serviceable D Line that can consistently get pressure on the QB....Jarrett and Fowler isn’t enough. I don’t care if you think Okudah is the next PRIMETIME Sanders! You can only stay with the WR for so long on any given play. Give Brees, Brady, etc enough time in the pocket and they will always pick you apart even if your number 1 corner has his man shutdown. If falcons want to make a real splash go get Chase Young or trade up just enough to get Kinlaw. BUILD THE TRENCHES.
  11. I actually believe Henderson is no doubt the 2nd best corner in this draft but with the best coverage skills in this draft even over Okudah but that said for many of the same Physicality reasons a number of you don’t want CJ Henderson at 16 neither do I. I’m pass CJs tackling issues. I agree it’s bad and need to be worked on but I’m actually more concerned with how he does in coverage vs physical WRs especially the ones he’d have to face in our division! While I do believe CJ is even more talented in coverage than Okudah his lack of physicality is going to get him destroyed. That’s the thing about CJ he has all the skills of shut down corner but he severely lacks that physicality trait on a number of levels! I can’t trust him to play press coverage a full game (I know he’s shown to do this well at the college level but the nfl is way more physical), I can’t trust him to guard bigger body WRs like Mike Evans or Michael Thomas, what is he going to do in the open field vs Christian McCaffery ???(maybe a bit unfair as that’s a bad situation for most defenders but heck effort goes a long way and shying away from making the tackle is not acceptable) .....but point is CJ just lacks everything to do with physicality for a defensive back yet the dude has undeniable skills. if we draft him I’m not going to be extremely upset but I am going ask can DQ teach physicality to a player who has none? Or is that something a human being is just born with similar to speed ?
  12. Like I said in the other thread we’ve always been good at moving the ball between the 20s but finishing in the redzone is the problem. Clearly Gurley has a knack for completing drives and we need that more than his yards. Very good article and it really displays the differences between the two! In the redzone Gurley was 12 out of 14 on rushing attempts for TDs...he will get more opportunities in the redzone here in Atlanta. Gurley will be our elite finisher we’ve been missing post SB run. Heck he’s probably going to be more fresh and healthier than ever throughout a whole season as AGAIN we don’t necessarily need him to move the ball between the 20s.
  13. In my opinion we don’t need Gurley to be a workhorse...maybe he gets a game or two where he has around 30 carries because he’s just having an awesome game and feeling great but we don’t need Gurley to be the face of the offense when we have Julio, Ryan, Ridley! We just need him to contribute and actually give us a running game identity for our offense . At the end of the day Gurley may not be elite anymore but he’s still a very good back and he’s valuable. Gurleys biggest value for our falcons is this.... In many seasons with Matt Ryan as our QB the offense finds a way to move the ball between the 20s even in down seasons or change of offensive coordinator seasons, we ALWAYS tend to find a way to consistently move the ball between the 20s in most games throughout the season. BUT It’s finishing once we get into the redzone that has been the biggest offensive problem in many seasons since Matty Ice has been QB. That’s not to blame Ryan solely of course bu rather the whole offense itself including the coaching staff. BUT Here’s where Gurley is most valuable to is (again in my opinion)...Much like Turner could punch us into the end zone during his prime days, Gurley can still and will bring that same value back to us that we haven’t had since Super Bowl year and even before SB year we were missing it when Turner was clearly heading towards retirement. You see i don’t pers care if Gurley has just 800 yards rushin or a low total in all purpose yards...if he can be our focal point and get us TDs either by rushing or receiving in the redzone he’s going to be huge value. We need Gurley to bring his ability to score in the redzone, give us something on short yardage runs, and at times give us something when there’s nothing on some plays...ALL things he can still do at a high level. Unlike the rams we will not be depending on him for everything offensively. Perhaps he will just be depended on in the redzone more since he has a reputation of being able to get into the endzone. last I will say I can see games were Gurley may just have 65-75 yards rushing but 2-3 TDs with our offense.
  14. A lot of the backs on that list may have not won a SB but some were in a SB with their team! When you’re putting a team together you can’t guarantee a SB win even if you’re excellent at drafting and getting it right every time on your picks !....that’s just sports and unfortunate **** happens. i use to hear the same thing about a star wideout and how they don’t win SBs....but truth is you can put write that about so many positions.
  15. I like Jonathan Taylor and believe he’s going to be a instant star in the nfl. Dude has the whole package you need for a RB and I’m shocked he’s not higher on the national mock drafts. But due to all our needs I have to agree that it’s probably not a smart move to draft a RB with our first two picks. So I hope by Round 3 or 4....this guy is still available! On my mock draft for RBs I have Taylor as the clear best in this draft class then Dillon as next best. I’m not a huge fan of Swift. I like big bruising backs that possesses great breakaway speed for their size or atleast RBs that show they can go into power mode like Taylor has shown though his size isn’t what I’d consider a bruiser (personally) and it’s been time for a long while now that we get back that Burner Turner style! ...I wanted Derrick Henry during the 2013 draft but we lucked up with Freeman and Coleman during those years and though that was a nice tandem it didn’t last long enough in my opinion on the impact side of things. AJ Dillion would be a nice complement to go along with the rest of our offense especially Matty Ice ....as we all know Ryan thrives in play action and I have no doubt that Dillion will get his yards and yards after contact and have defenses worried forcing them to stack the box. Then on the other hand I think it’s important that we get a RB who can actually help us control and manage the clock. All the quick strikes when the offense is rolling (anyways) is killing us at the same time as we throw out a putrid defense more then we should. anyways Taylor is awesome and if we didn’t have so many holes he’d be my pick at 16 as well but Dillion is my pick as I’m expecting him to be there in rds 3-4 and if he’s a late second I personally would move up to get him.
  16. I would roll with McCoy to paired by Jarrett up the middle. I’d love to see the interior of offensive lines destroyed on a normal basis. i know some of you says it’s a strong DT class and perhaps that’s true but outside of Jarrett we don’t tend to get it right in trenches during draft time in my opinion. I’m not saying the DT class isn’t strong just seem like ....we just get unlucky. I’m done with drafting defensive linemen early . Grab a D lineman in the mid to late rds and get us a star vet D lineman!...I’d be very interested to see if Tak is a completely different player with these two in the middle of that line.
  17. Great point but I am ready for a big back (Turner like) to return to the team.
  18. Definitely not saying matt isn’t worth it...was just wondering if there were other ways to gain more cap space outside of the cuts that had already been made
  19. Would it be possible to reconstruct Ryan/Julio or extend (Mack) contracts to gain more cap space for this off season ? and if so any news on if these players are willing to do this to help out the team? im not very good with how the CAP works in the NFL so I have to ask (on side note: way way more knowledgeable with the NBA CBA/CAP as it’s just a lot easier to follow and understand in my opinion...not that this matters) any feedback I’d appreciate it.
