Nothing would surprise me. No matter the outcome, just glad it's not on the Falcons plate to deal with right now.

Ryan is going to amaze those nay saying fans, we will start to see the Ryan who is able to stand up and go through his progressions without two people hanging onto him.  I think he also has more than one or two seasons of good football left in him.  He might be good for three or even four.  He is tough as a tank, smart as any QB , including Brady.  he has missed a very few games in his career, and with a competent O line he will be competent longer than anyone suspects.

The national sports media were convinced Ryan was over the hill and AS and TF had no choice but to take their first pick as leaders of the franchise, a rare top-five draft pick at that, and grab a future franchise signal caller.  That was the expected move, and perfectly reasonable, almost inevitable it seemed in the weeks before the draft. The talk wasn't about whether AS and TF would take a QB, but which one did they want and would that player still be available at #4?
Props to AS and TF for being secure enough in themselves and their ability to succeed immediately by staying with Ryan rather than drafting his replacement at #4, thereby pushing all realistic expectations for a Falcons resurgence to 2023 at the earliest.
They realized whatever problems this team has, Quarterback wasn't one of them. The core strength and unquestioned leader of the team's offense is Mattie Ice. As we all know they took a perfect complement to Ryan and the offense at #4 with Kyle Pitts.
Hope Matt has a great season to shut up the pundits and the Ryan-hating fans. It would vindicate Smith's and Fontenot's decision to stick with Ryan for the foreseeable future and use that one-and-only top-five pick to really get this offense back into high gear, closer to 2016 than anything we've seen since. Thanks to the choice to stay with Ice,  I firmly believe we won't be waiting around for 2023 to see this team return to prominence.

Agree. Half the battle is forcing the defense to blindly guess, get them back on their heels on every play. And as you said, it's gonna be twice as effective in the no huddle offense.

I think Patterson will be our 3rd back and help out in the pass game. I think Hawkins takes the RB2 position by the end of camp, and the RB1 spot before the end of the season.

This is exactly what I was thinking, we have some weapons with different skill sets.  As long as the coaches figure out how to best use them, things could get really interesting.

Agree. I would like to see those players used in a no huddle offense (not hurry up) and change positions. For example, play 1 has Patterson at WR and Pitts at TE. Get the mismatches you want. Play 2, Patterson at RB, Pitts at WR. And so on and so forth. The ability to play multiple positions could cause havoc to defenses

Could run alot of plays with Patterson, Davis, Pitts, Ridley, and Hurst; all out of the same formation. Similar to what we did in 2016. Would be very difficult to know where the ball is going and would set up some mean play action. I expect we will see alot of this.

I liked how he has the letter from his Jr season saying he was at least rated as a third rounder. Years later and he's in the conversation about the HOF.
