Problem is that it isn’t a particularly good draft for elite playmakers at FS or EDGE.  Unless we get Rousseau I don’t think any FS or EDGE merits the use of an early round 1 draft pick.

If the objective is getting quality EDGE, FS & RB (likely in that order), they should finally trade down from their top 10 spot and add another 2nd round pick.  If we finish top 5. A QB needy team could offer a ton if they like Wilson or Lance

    Hypothetical Trade With Jaguars:
    • Falcons Trade 7th Overall
    • Jaguars Send #21, #34 and #66 Overall

    #21: Kwity Paye
    #34: Javon Holland or Moehrig
    #40: Najee Harris
#66: Paris Ford or ArDarius Washington
    #72: Jordan Davis
#103: Arvin Fletcher or Best LG available

This team needs as many top 100 draft picks as possible the next two drafts

I'd rather a impact player in the secondary if one is there especially a Safety.

The secondary needs to be upgraded. Everyone except Terrell could be replaced in the next couple of seasons.

A true playmaking safety is a much bigger need than edge rusher.

It won’t be made up with two weeks to go, Pittsburgh holds the only bye in the AFC with zero losses, KC has one and there are three teams with three losses.  There is almost no chance they sit their starters against us in week 16.

It’s exciting draft night to trade up, it’s not the sexy thing to trade down or as fun and you likely don’t get as big of a name of a player by doing so, but it’s the smart move long term.

Thing is it lead to bad free agent signings to fill holes left because of those moves.  Those cap hits did linger on.  Point is he never traded back to recoup any of those picks.  So you kick the can down the road long enough, restructure contracts every year to bring in free agents to fill those gaps, eventually it catches up to you.  We went “all in” too many times and it never paid off.

So true.  Just look at our 2018 draft.  Nobody gave a 2nd thought to Gage & Foye in the 6th round.  They were given incredibly high grades for Ridley & Oliver as Day 1 picks.

Since 2014 we’ve made these solid picks in the 4th or later.  That’s 3 Pro Bowl players with a 4th incoming.
    • Freeman, Rico
    • Grady
    • Campbell, Schweister
    • Kazee
    • Gage, Foye
    • Cominsky
    • Walker
We have accumulated 35 years of starters in Rounds 3-6 between 2014 and 2019.  The first 2 rounds produced 25 years of starters.  Who knows what these numbers would look like if we didn’t trade picks away every year

In fairness he kept kitchens around after being interim.  He got rid of Hue Jackson and the team instantly got better so he gave kitchens a chance (sound familiar?).  I believe the owner gave Stefansksi say in who the GM was and he didn’t want Dorsey, so he moved on.
His first draft was Mayfield, Ward, Corbett and Nick Chubb.  Second he used a first for OBJ and they got Greedy Williams in the 2nd which was one of the steals of the draft.  Guy can find talent, helps when you have Sashi Brown playing money ball with the Brock Osweiler trade the year before and stocking up on picks, but he hit on most.
Not to mention at KC he drafted Fisher, Kelce, Dee Ford, Marcus Peters, Chris Jones, Tyreek Hill, Patrick Mahomes and Kareem Hunt, he traded for Alex Smith and hired Andy Reid.
He can build a roster, that’s for sure.  Just a matter if he can not piss everyone off while doing so.

For a team that really drafts incredibly in rounds 2-5, the Falcons would have been more prudent trading down every other year rather than trading up.  It’s how the Patriots operate and we draft better than them.  Since 2011 the Falcons have made 25 picks in rounds 1-3 while the Patriots have made 37.

Thats 12 additional top 100 picks in the last 9 years.  With our draft history, imagine our depth if you add 5-6 top 100 picks to our current roster.  Instead we are too heavy with just 28 guys under contract next year.
I’ve always hated trading up in round 1.  It rarely ends up being wise.  The last two years drafts are too soon to judge, but in the 5 drafts prior (2014-2018) our best pick was not our first round selection.  One could say Ridley over Foye but it’s debatable

Actually Kitchens wasn't the interim coach. Gregg Williams was the Browns interim HC after they fired Hue Jackson. He fired Williams and hired Kitchens as HC because "he wanted to keep Baker Mayfield in the same offense."

I was wrong he did draft him.  It said his stint was over in 16, but he ran the 17 draft and then left it looks like.  Wikipedia let me down lol.

Let's take that a step further with value
    Sam Baker: 175, 121, 34
    Tru: 43, 4
    Takk: 40, 2
    Kaleb: 57

    Sheffield: 6
    Julio: 253, 91, 24, 21

That's a total of 871 points, or the equivelent of the #2 pick in both rounds 1 & 2
    OR
    #6 & #7 overall
    OR
    #26, #27, #28 & #29 overall
    OR
    8 midround 2nd rounders
    OR
THE FIRST 30 PICKS IN ROUND 4!!!
THIS IS WHY WE HAVE NO DEPTH!

Even without Mahomes, it definitely looks like the man knows how to evaluate talent. As I implied in my first post, I'd choose ability at the job above personality.
If he turned out to be a hopelessly insufferable Asz Clown, Blank could insist he wear a gag under his mask while within six feet of other team members or employees.

Exactly. Why is this rocket science? I'd have a ton of bunch sets ready to go. Reduced splits. Rubs. Crossers. The works. But nope, we'll see a ton of 4 and 5 wide iso looks again.
