  1. bookmark this thread...... Another lazy article by PFT.
  2. Todd Peterson missed a 28-yard field goal. Actually lack of depth in the midst of injuries ... but that is another thread.
  3. We will have some in the play-offs.
  4. I honestly feel ... that after J. Long ... I would prefer to have Baker over any other linemen. He had an injury plagued season that hurt his stock ... to our advantage. He is the stongest, smartest, and most experienced linemen in this draft class ... he has more nasty than people think ... he will be a pro-bowler. The only reason he is being disrespected is because he is wearing this .....
  5. Though this is a popular sentiment .... I could not disagree more...
  6. Surprised by some of these answers... UT is probably our weakest position on the line. Mike Smith feels that a Rashad Moore at 350 pounds is an upgrade over G. Jackson ... and with Lewis eventually returning ... and Stanley playing reasonably well ... NT is actually not our weakest position. The only reason Sam Baker is getting lambasted by the media is because he wears a falcon's insignia. He is probably the strongest and smartest of the first round offensive linemen ... with the most quality college experience. He will be the first or second linemen of this draft class to make a pro-bowl. Weiner/Clabo at the other tackle spot is not a weakness either. Our biggest weaskeness are ... Strong Safety .... Milloy is our only solid vet .... whereas Coleman and Harris at free safety is not as concerning to me. Coleman is an upgrade over Crocker according to scout.com. Under Tackle ... we are relying on two proven back-ups in moorehead/babs. If Babs continues to improve however ... he could become a legit starter this season. Tight End ... I am kind of surprised we are willing to rely on one-dimensional blocking TEs from the bargain bin. Having at least one solid receiving TE can only help this team.
  7. This could be a red flag. ala ... Joey Harrington ... Weed like Bed-Wetting Liberalism does not mix well with football.
  8. He did run a 4.42 at his pro-day which is not chopped liver.
  9. It is Babs (ut) and Moore (nt) .... not Moorehead. Stanley will back-up Moore until Lewis returns. Moorehead will rotate with Babs at UT. Moorehead is not a NT.
  10. I DON'T KNOW WOLF. QUALITY DEPTH? WE MAY HAVE IT AT A FEW POSITIONS, BUT FOR THE MOST PART YOU'LL SEE A BIG DROP-OFF FROM STRARTERS TO 2nd. STRING. ON YOUR BETTER TEAMS THERES A VERY, VERY THIN LINE BETWEEN STARTERS AND 2nd. STRING, EVEN 3rd. STRING. THE STARTER CAN GO DOWN AND THE TEAM NEVER MISSES A BEAT. LIKE YOU SAID, "WE'RE REBUILDING," WE'LL GET THERE. Wow That was the point. We used to have HUGE drop-offs between first and second string. On this team ... our starters are not as good ... but our second string ... and our third string are better. **** - we don't even know who will be best at S, CB, OT, OG, RDE ... all up for grabs. Oh - and ESPECIALLY DT.

  12. I am amazed by how many of my friends misread what I said about the D-Line. I said it is a concern. I said our offensive line is actually going to be good. So feel free to disagree with that point. We are deep in every position with quality starters at RB, FB, WR, LB and K. And potentially quality starters at OG, OT, DE, S, CB, and QB. DT IS AN ISSUE. Lewis healthy is preferred ... but it ain't going to happen come opening day. Rashad Moore at 350+ pounds is not going to be a downgrade over Grady. So the issue there becomes whether or not Babs - a second round pick in his own right - can become a legit starter. That may be a key to this season ... that and Jamaal Anderson, Brent Grimes, and Chevis Jackson.
  13. It is on paper going to be Grimes. Chevis will be groomed to be the next Asante. ... we will keep a bull pen of cross-trained DBs that will rotate based on match ups and situations. It may not be sexy but it is the Patriot approach.
  14. O-Line is actually going to be good. I know it is not popular to say even on this board. We will for once have a BIG offensive line with even McClure being over 300 pounds. Clabo will at WORST play right guard if Forney does not return to form. If Weiner does not come back ... look for the Dahl - Clabo experiment to begin. This could be one of the best offensive lines in Falcon history - I truly believe that. Defensive line ... well I tend to agree with you there. It is up to Babs ... but that kind of feeds my point ... you have a B+ and B- combo in UT with Babs and Moorehead ... both of them are better than an handicapped Coleman.
  15. ??? Chili Rainbow? Dirty Sanchez? ya know....
  16. We had GREAT paper first stringers 2004 - 2006 ... never any depth. We are now deep at .... WR RB DL OL QB LB CB S There may not be many marquee names on our current roster ... but there weren't any on the Patriots either when they were winning Superbowls. We are for once designed for a full season.
  17. Wow. Nothing like seeing your name as a subject line to get your attention. First, I'll say I agree with the fellow poster that says wait until Sept. 6 before throwing out predictions on the season. Who would have picked the Packers to do as well as they did last season? There you have it on that... My honest opinion is that guessing win totals is pointless. But we all do it. My answer to your question is that I think the Falcons will win more games than people expect or the experts have thus far predicted. Consider this... The last four winners of the NFC South finished last in the division the year before (all losing records that turn into 8-8 or better). It's an over-used statement of fac but it's the best way to illustrate how much of an unknown 2008 presents. Still wondering when I'm going to answer the question? OK. If you look at the schedule and consider the teams' performances from last year (which is somewhat pointless), I can see 4-6 wins outside the division games. Split with your division opponents and your're at 7-9. Win all your games at home and you have at at least eight wins. Sneak a couple on the road and you can get to 10-6 really quick. All simple math, I know. But, consider the person your asking the question of and if he can REALLY answer the question. First off - thank you for responding as a fellow fan. We need a conduit like you to help galvanize our very real - oft maligned - Falcon fan base. Any Falcon fan knows they are not going to get any favor from the pundits. Even with the good paper teams of 2005 and 6 ... the pundits were bailed out by injuries once again. But I digress. Looking through the schedule .... and actually looking at how INJURY PROOFED this team is ... there is no way we are going to be worse than last season. I think the biggest change will be that we actually finish stronger than we started ... 10-6 is a legitimate possibility. Either the new regime knows what they are doing or they don't. If they do. Expect the rest of the world to be surprised.
  18. 6-5 310 is not less than ideal size? Da-Da-Daaaaaa-Da-Daaaaaa-Daaaaa Super Homer! Baker is a couple of inches below 'ideal' height, at least 10 pounds below 'ideal weight and doesn't have the super long arms typical of the best OT's. A lack of ideal height is a legit critism. This post is so ridiculous it borders on trolldome. BAKER IS THE EXACT SAME SIZE AS RYAN CLADY and almost the same size as Long --- Fact! And Baker is stronger than both of them. Fact. That makes me less of a homer than you a troll. In fact everyone but Williamson (including Prisco) has praised Baker for his size. http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=1164&CID=768107
  19. My email to Williamson.... "With regard to your comment that Sam Baker lacks power and size... Baker is far more powerful than Jake Long besting him in every weight room measurable (more than 100 pounds on bench press). He is almost the same size as Long as well. 6-5 310 is not less than ideal size for a left tackle. In fact it is pretty much on the beefy side of perfect. There may be reasons to think Baker is a stretch at 21 ... but not because of Power and Size. And he is certainly no more of a stretch than Flacco or Otah ... but then again it is the Falcons ... so pile jump away."
  20. Who lacks ideal size and strength? Baker is stronger than Jake Long! And almost the same size!
