  1. I think the trade for Vizcaino means Walden is likely to be traded because he will get a larger raise in arbitration than Carpenter.
  2. All traces of Frank Wren have been removed from the Braves. His son,Kyle, has been traded to the Brewers for RHP Zack Quntana.
  3. They just signed catcher Eli Whiteside to a minor league deal. They also signed RHP Sugar Ray Marimon and LHP Greg Smith to minor league deals. Marimon was a big starting pitcher prospect with the Royals for several years, but his career has been slowed by numerous injuries and the Royals finally gave up on him. Smith hasn't pitched in the majors since 2010.
  4. Some guy at YahooSports was making the argument that it would make sense for the Braves to trade BJ Upton's lousy contract to the Cubs in return for Edwin Jackson's lousy contact. The reasoning is that working with Roger McDowell might turn Jackson's career around. And a change of address might help Upton in Chicago. Since BJ is owed over $46 million over the next 3 years (versus $22 million for Jackson for 2 years), the Braves would likely have to either include some cash or a pitching prospect in the deal. Let's say the deal is this: Cubs get: BJ Upton and David Hale Braves get: Edwin Jackson Would you make this deal if the Braves did not have to include any cash?
