  1. College football doesn't count. If you count college football, why not include college tennis or college swimming? College = amateur NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL = professional One means something, the other is meaningless.
  2. In 2015, the Mets had the 4th best ERA in baseball. In 2016, they were 3rd. They didn't lose any pitchers in trade or via FA (except for Colon), and with a returning Wheeler and Harvey, they were projected to be in the top 3 again in 2017. So, it is quite unbelievable that the Mets currently have the worst ERA in MLB.
  3. Yesterday, Arthur Blank was live in studio on WFAN for a great interview conducted by the one and only Mike Francesa here in New York. We are so darn lucky to have such a great owner http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/05/24/arthur-blank-wfan/
  4. So stupid. I know what word he said to get suspended, but c'mon. The word has multiple meanings and it wasn't used to insult the gay community. The world is softer than whipped cream.
  5. Karma. Maybe he shouldn't have beaten his wife.
  6. But that's probably only since the late 90's. If a pitcher went 6IP/3ER in the 60's, he'd likely win 25% of the time. That's why more old school people think that the 6IP quality start is a joke.
  7. Yeah, everyone is pissed at him. And he doesn't really have too many friends on the team. He's a bit of a loner. The Mets did him a favor by making his next start on the road because he would've gotten boo'd out of Citi Field as soon as he took the mound. He played golf Saturday morning. So he either played golf hungover and then went home and crashed out, or he continued to drink while playing (there have been reports that when he plays golf, he's smashed by the 3rd hole). I know you guys aren't too pleased with Bartolo Colon, but he texted Harvey to try and help and support him.
  8. I don't view Syndergaard in that way. Sure, he dressed up as Thor and went to Times Square, but Syndergaard is more concerned with his pitching than off the field stuff. He had a foolish off season work out plan, and that's why he's hurt, but he understands the was things work better than Harvey. If Noah wasn't hurt, he'd be pitching great, like he always does. Harvey has to prove that he's a decent pitcher, let alone an ace. Plus, he's only 24 years old, where Harvey is 28.
  9. Trust me, you don't want him. I'm sure Harvey would love to stick it to the Mets too, but he'll fail when he gets the chance.
  10. Yes, him not showing up to Saturdays game is the main reason. He "had a migraine" and "tried to get in contact with the Mets", but you know how hard it is to reach people with the lack of technology these days. This guy can't leave NY fast enough. He wants to be Derek Jeter, and probably has the physical talent, but he fails in every other aspect. I mean, I probably know things about him that the Mets are unaware of..like when he got kicked out of a small town local bar near my neck of the woods last summer. Preemptive LOL at whichever MLB franchise is dumb enough to give this guy a big free agent contract.
  11. Good. Our current uniform is hideous.
  12. Does anyone remember the pitcher that would talk to himself on the mound after every pitch? Was it Jake Peavy or someone like that? Your new reliever Jason Motte reminds me of him. After every pitch, Motte is talking to himself, taking his hat off, tugging his jersey, walking around, flipping the ball in the air, etc.
  13. April 2017 had more strikeouts than any other month in MLB history. That sounds good for the pitchers, but I think it's more about the hitters flailing away, trying to hit HRs, and failing to make contact.
  14. What are your thoughts (looks and how it plays) on the new park? I kinda miss the look of Turner Field. I liked that Turner was pretty uniform with even dimensions. Nice, level blue wall in the OF with that gap in dead Center with the scoreboard above. A "standard" park doesn't really exist anymore and I think Turner Field was really nice in that aspect. The guys on the Mets broadcast were saying the park is more elevated than Turner, which is why the ball is carrying. Will it be a launching pad in the summer months? I'm sure you guys have already discussed this a million times, so I apologize for bringing it up again.
  15. Eh. That was a good play, but he is not a real CF. His speed has vanished. But his routes are still good and he never flubs a ball.
  16. The Mets have not played a game outside of the NL East yet and it's the third series against the Braves already. Crazy schedule making. Who's Hot Michael Conforto - Almost started the year in AAA. Now, he'll never sit again. By far the Mets best player at the moment. Jose Reyes - Was terrible for the first 3 weeks of the season, but started hitting the ball harder and is finally producing. Jacob deGrom - Forget what you may have heard. Just because Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard have super hero nicknames, they were never the ace's of this staff. It's always been deGrom. Who's Not Curtis Granderson - Probably the streakiest Mets player I can remember and right now he's an automatic out. Jeurys Familia - Not good when your closer is on this list, but he hasn't been impressive since his return from suspension. Had a nice save in Washington Saturday afternoon, but was yanked from his save situation on Friday after loading the bases. Addison Reed - Even worse when the set-up man is on the list. He's given up more HRs in 2017 than he did in 2016. NKotB and Notes T.J. Rivera - I'm not sure how much time this semi-utility INF will see (because the Mets hate young players), but he should start everyday. He's currently spelling Duda, who might make his way back from injury to play 1B in this series, but personally I'm sick of him. Duda has great power and nothing else. T.J. Rivera is a solid all-around baseball player.
  17. Good job, Matt. Keep smoking cigerattes with Adriana Lima.
  18. ^ I guess it's a common thing to blame the coach/manager. To piggyback on my statement of the Mets not scoring unless they hit a HR, you just saw it in the bottom of the 2nd. They might be the slowest team in baseball. The only players with a modicum of speed is Lagares (who rarely plays and is often hurt) and Reyes (who is aging and currently stinks). Why the 3rd base coach waved home one of the slowest players in MLB (Jay Bruce) with zero outs is mind boggling. Congrats on sweeping the rain shortened 2-game series.
  19. Syndergaard is scratched. Harvey will pitch.
  20. Mets Report (if anyone is interested) A few years ago, I think I've read on these boards that you guys were saying the Braves were a feast or famine team. That's exactly where the Mets are. If they don't hit HRs, they do not score. Aside from Asdrubal and maybe Conforto, nobody in the lineup has the ability to do the little things that create runs. In fact, I'm pretty sure that since the beginning of the 2016 season, the Mets have the best record in baseball when hitting a HR and one of the worst record when they don't. Terry Collins might be fired soon. None of it is his fault, and there is a large segment of Mets fans who hate him (for some unknown reason), but that's the way it goes. It's his last year managing anyway and he might get the axe.
  21. I agree, but I'm not sure what you can really do. Boston, 2 NY teams, 2 Chicago teams, Minnesota, Cleveland, Colorado, Philly, and Detroit all have bad April weather. I think MLB should try to limit April home games in those cities, and maybe they do try, but it's probably difficult.
  22. The rain was supposed to clear up this afternoon. It's still cold, cloudy, foggy, misty, wet, etc. There is no real rain happening now, but there is a 25% chance for tonight and tomorrow. Either way, it'll be cold, cloudy, foggy, misty, and wet.
  23. Tonight might not happen due to weather. I know I said that last time, but all I can do is look outside and read the weather report. I'm looking outside now and it's a monsoon. It's "supposed" to rain until tomorrow afternoon, but I do live almost 2 hours east of Citi Field. Anyway, good luck sweeping the Mets. It shouldn't be too hard. We might be able to scratch out a run against RA, but we stand no chance against Teheran and the God of Pitching (Bart)
