I’ll take Monte Morris and Kelly Olynyk from that list and draft Kai Jones if he’s still on the board at 20.

Would be awesome if we could have a core with players like Curry, PG13 and Kawhi. Don’t think it’s unreasonable that each player can hit that ceiling either, but even if Cam and Hunter don’t quite hit those comps, we can still be really good

I think he will play. Reps are important for him. It seems he was given a token 10 mpg, when sometimes his play warranted so much more.
I'm hoping by next season he's getting equal minutes with Clint at center.

    Since someone asked:
    Priority List:
    1. As much as Nate fustrates me with his rotations sometimes. Drop the interim tag so he becomes our permanent headcoach.

    2. Resign Collins - yes he says he thinks he should be in the the max conversation, I don't think he gets one. Hawks offered 4/$90 a max from another team is 4/$120 - i think there can be a meeting of the minds somewhere in the middle.

    3. Draft - the #20 pick: I'm hoping we can find a 'Capela like trade' - a young player, preferably a PG, on a reasonable long term deal to trade #20.

    4. Point Guard - Trae signs his early extention. Back up PG - we went into last offseason needing one and here we are again needing one. I think Dunn picks up his option unfortunately. I hoping he doesn't. Target: TJ MCConnell

    5. Lou, Hill and Snell are most likely gone. One of Lou or Hill maybe back on a vet min for the locker room. Lou gave us 1 great game in each playoff series but that was it.

    6. The wings: Bogi, Hunter, Reddish Huerter - keepers for now. We never had them all healthy all year. If an early value deal for Huerter can be negotiated, do it.
Add depth players to replace Snell and Hill: Target:  Danuel House via trade. (Dunn and a 2nd or two).

    7. The Bigs: Hawks need some added depth there. Okongwu - would like to see him progress next season to have him get an even split of minutes with Capela aa his backup. Is Bruno salvageable? Target: Dieng

Run it back and see where we are at the trade deadline.
    PG: Young, McConnell, Goodwin
    SG: Bogdan, Huerter,  Mays (2way)
    SF: Hunter, Reddish, House
    PF: Collins, Gallinari
C - Capela, Okongwu, Dieng, Fernando, Knight (2way)

Hawks have approximately $8 million in capspace if Dunn picks up his option $13 million if he doesn't.

When guys like Middleton and Connaughton ate getting 11 and 8 rebounds that's on the guards and wings (Boginand Huerter). They need a master class in putting a body on a guy and boxing them out. That's how you help your bigs rebound. They're already battling for rebounding position against their assigned guys, can't have wings coming in and snatching those boards.
The other issue is our ability to contain dribble penetration, bigs rotate over to try and help, someone has to step in to cover their guy.
There's lot's of tape for Nate and the players to study this offseason.

Man this is so exciting! We also have some other pieces that aren't too old either:
Bogi will be 29 in August and Clint will be 27 at the start of next season too. We could keep both around and get more good years out of both of them. Although if Big O keeps developing, I doubt we keep Clint around unless the money is right

Just to think that they've already accomplished making it to the ECF without any of them coming into their own yet when referring to the young talent.

Even Trae isn't close to a finished product yet.

Could be talking about the next NBA dynasty if Reddish and Hunter become stars. Onkongwu showed some potential as a defensive anchor with some offensive ability.

I wouldn't expect him to either. Just estimating the likelihood.

I think the future core of the Hawks is Trae, Reddish, and Hunter. I think Reddish and Hunter become stars in their own right and give the Hawks their homegrown Big 3 in the near future.

Nah, wouldn't expect him to. I'm not mad at it though--it's the GMs job to make the numbers work. Young put in the work and deserves to get what he can.

Trae's extension won't kick in until next offseason, so him taking less doesn't affect this offseason, he's on the books for $8 million next season wether he signs the early extension or not.
Now if he delays signing his early extention until next offseason it gives us more manuevring capabilities next offseason for signings and trades although his caphold ($27) and his 25% max ($28.5) is very close.

Well, it's not the result we wanted, but I'm still proud of these Hawks.
Even though we'll still have to wait for a championship, the Hawks far exceeded any expectations in a season that, almost midway through, was looking like another dud.
    51. That's how many games the Hawks won this season.
I thought they were better than the Knicks, but to beat them in 5 games, that was impressive. Then beating the #1 seed Sixers was icing on the cake, especially in Game 6 when they completed a highly improbable comeback from a 26-point deficit on the road (28-3 demons exorcised). After that, they had me believing they could do anything.
Then they went into Milwaukee on Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and shocked the world again. No asterisks, no excuses, just went in there and flexed on em. Talking heads on national sports shows were astonished and flabbergasted. How were they doing this? What's wrong with the other team? How do you guard Trae Young? They argued and debated over and over again, trying to solve the puzzle even the Atlanta faithful would have to admit was a conundrum.
Championship or not, one thing these Hawks did that can't be overstated is they put Atlanta on the forefront of NBA fans conscious. I was on vacation in Florida wearing my bright red T-shirt with the Hawks Pac-Man logo on the front, and it sparked several conversations. People actually recognized the logo as the Hawks logo, and I was hundreds of miles away from Atlanta.
This is just the beginning folks. This is a young squad...literally.
    Trae Young: 22
    Cam Reddish: 21
    Kevin Huerter: 22
    DeAndre Hunter: 23
    John Collins: 23
    Onyeka Onkongwu: 20

    I would not be opposed.
I would prefer to offer the 2022 OKC 1st (lottery protected then 2 2nds) since we are taking Barnes' guaranteed $18 million salary in the last year of the deal vs Gallo only being guaranteed at $5 mil.
Gallo is 32 years, Barnes is 28 years old. I think he would thrive here. Comparative stats here:

This is an amazing stat, Young assisted Collins (141) and Capela (136) a combined 277 times during the 2020-21 regular season, each combination ranking in the top five in the league.  Collins was extremely effective in this role.  I’m not sure he’s in max territory but he does deserve a fair contract!

This is going to be an interesting offseason!  A big factor in it all is Trae Young, who, in entering his fourth NBA season is eligible for a contract extension. After crossing into superstar territory during the 20-21 playoffs, Young is undoubtedly set to receive a maximum contract extension from the Hawks.
