Now it's on liberals to ask McConnell and Pence why they're not siding more strongly with Liz Cheney. Exposing their hypocrisy will dissuade their constituents and likely cause voters to suspect that Trump himself has an ulterior motive in attempting to change the definition of the "big lie" in the first place. MSNBC should give me the spot they're saving for Liz Cheney.

That is pretty much exactly what Joe Scarborough was suggesting this morning.

Wow . . . One of the strangest in the short history of Atlanta United was Carlton getting benched . . . or worse actually.  He was kept out of uniform and later banned from the victory parade the day of the MLS Cup.

Apparently he played well enough for Indy last year, and there is not evidence that he actually stormed the capitol, although he indicated an intent to go to the rally.

    He's a dumb kid.

Maybe he'll mature.  He certainly could turn things around and have a successful career.  It seems like he should GTHO of Georgia though.

Overcoming that mentality is going to be very, very difficult.  One approach that may or may not work is to just ask him directly — would you rather live in a conservative authoritarian regime or a democracy where liberals sometimes get to govern?  And if he says democracy, then gently hold him to it by reminding him when he’s considering a Republican that is supporting the voter fraud lie.  “You’re voting for conservative authoritarianism who supported overturning the election with this lie.”

I actually did get him to commit to valuing Democracy over Conservatism a while back.  I'll have to follow up.  Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Let's assume, for a moment, that this poll is reliable:

I have a friend who is a decent human being, strongly pro life and life long Republican.   He tends to get information for Right wing sources and I frequently, as respectfully as possible, explain the information he is relying on is ********.  He claims to understand and then we repeat the cycle.  over and over.  Always with respect, but always the same result.  It makes me a little crazy.

But he was disgusted with the Big lie and he was horrified by January 6 and Trump's response to the whole thing.

And then I got "What do you think about Stacey Abrams getting MLB to move the All Star Game with a "The Truth About the Ga Voting Changes from . . . . The lobbying group in favor of the Georgia voting changes.  Hint:  It was not "truth."

So, he is one of the 23% of Republicans who don't believe the Big Lie.  But here's the problem with that:  Because 70% of Republicans DO believe the Big Lie, in order to have ANY VIABILITY AS A CANDIDATE WHATSOEVER, you MUST endorse the Big Lie.  In other words, to have a chance to get elected, you MUST take reject the core of Democracy.

I wonder if I can get my friend to understand this?

Lol at thinking the Cloud is above us, like actual ******* clouds. Childlike thinking, bro. Really, the Cloud is everywhere. Like an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Cloud around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Cloud.

    The Cloud is a note:

  6. This does not remotely make me angry.  It makes me sad and confused.  I saw a tweet about it and presumed it was not a direct quote, or maybe taken out of context.  But this guy . . . well just read it for yourself

I get that he is 29 and PROBABLY won't die from Covid.  But it does happen.  And, by without the vaccine, he is more likely to transmit it to someone ELSE without the vaccine who might NOT be 29 and relatively invincible.

And his essay was in realclearpolitics.com and other publications.

I know it isn't mainstream or anything, but WTH?

I'm still surprised so many of you can get amped up for this ****.  28-3 absolutely destroyed my ability to be optimistic about this team.  I don't care if Jesus H is our QB.  If he's wearing a Falcon's uniform in the Super Bowl he is going to fumble the ball.

You know.  Things are going to happen tonight.  And things will happen tomorrow and Saturday.  And things will happen at the end of the summer, through the fall, and into winter.  There will be good things and there will be bad things.  But we are Falcons fans.  We are here.  We are divided on many things but we are united as Falcons fans.  We should draw strengths from that.  That each of us here can be a fan of any NFL team, or no NFL team, and we have chosen and remained loyal to THIS team.

Because let's face it, MOST of the things that are going to happen will be bad.  But this is the team we have chosen.
