It was black and white enough in 1948 for a number of Jews to leave their temples over Zionism. They saw their people becoming what they had just fled from.

Oh . . . that was about the treatment of Palestenians?

I would love to see your source for that.

I'm afraid you are even more ignorant of the history of Zionism than I am.

the ss st louis was a ship full of european jewish refugees fleeing from germany that fdr turned away in the late '30s. the implication is that jews are not truly safe in america or anywhere unless they have a state of their own.

Do you have a problem with that implication?

Do you feel differently about Israel than you do about America?  What are the actual numbers of Palestinian civilians killed compared to Israeli?  Compared to other civil wars?  Civilian massacres are a tragic blite of war.  They are inexcusable and I do not intend to try.

If you denied the existence of every world power that did what Israel did, there would be very little left of the world.

My children have no cousins from my father in law's generation.  I would love to see as peaceful means as possible of assuring that their grandchildren have the opportunity to attend larger family reunions.

Yeah, I’ve always known the reason you wouldn’t reply to PG when he would ask you about the Nakba was that you think ethnic cleansing is good when you’re the one doing it.

I’m not familiar with the SS St. Louis.

I have heard of the USS Liberty, though. That was the United States ship that the Israelis attacked back in 1967. The Israelis killed 34 American servicemen, wounded 171 others, and the US government covered up the attack 😕

That's ********.  It's as if you don't know how to use the internet or something.

Answer the question you are afraid to answer.  Why are you attacking the concern about violence against Jews?

"The Nakba" is obviously not a black and white issue.  I am not going to dignify your assertion with a defense because it is patently absurd.  If there is anyone on this board who actually believes the bold part about me, please le me know.  We shouldn't waste eachothers' time with engagement that doesn't engage.

i don't understand why you follow up your reaffirmation of israel as jewish ethnostate with tlaib's measured and thoughtful bit about a single levantine state that protects the rights of everyone.

Because her measured and thoughtful bit is not that far removed from my position.  Palestinians deserve to live with dignity and self determination.  Jews deserve to live in peace.  I'm up for any solution that achieves that.

Tlaib sure seems to be recognizing the need for a Jewish homeland.  Why can't you?  Is it possible to have a Jewish homeland without you perceiving it as an ethno state?

Back four or five years ago when I was hanging out with the second generation Russia-American chick I was hoping you’d take me up on my offer of a beer summit at Magic City, but for the past 3+ years every time I’ve come to Atlanta I’ve hung out with my second generation Vietnamese-American ladyfriend so I had to rescind the invitation or risk having to challenge you to a duel in the parking lot.

Also your above comments reminded me of something I had intended to revisit:

Like everyone says, my memory is unrivaled. All the stuff they say about weed and memory loss is government propaganda. I’m like an elephant.

So I’ve seen you be critical of Netanyahu on numerous occasions, but I can’t recall ever having seen you be critical of Israel outside of the context of Netanyahu. It was just a happy land of lollipops, rainbows, and blowjobs before he came along, huh?

First, you keep changing the subject.  Why are you discrediting issues Jews around the world are facing?

I've been completely critical of Israel for re-electing Netenyahu.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I am not going to claim that there should not be a homeland for the Jewish people.  You can call it ethno nationalist all you want.  I'll call it a marker against additional genocide and preservation of a religion and culture.  Ever hear of the SS St. Louis?

“There’s kind of a calming feeling I always tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors, Palestinians, who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports,” Tlaib said.

She continued, “I mean, just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time, and I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away, right, and it was forced on them. And so when I think about a one-state, I think about the fact that, why couldn’t we do it in a better way?”

When asked whether advocating for a one-state solution could be seen as reckless, Tlaib replied, “No, I’m coming from a place of love, for equality and justice, I truly am.”

“I want a safe haven for Jews,” she added. “Who doesn’t want to be safe? I am humbled by the fact that it was my ancestors that had to suffer for that to happen, but I will not turn my back and allow others to hijack it and say that it’s some extremist approach because they’re coming from a place of… whatever it is… of division, inequality.”

I know rn Zionists want to use claims of anti-semitism to draw attention away from the ethnic cleansing they support. I also know there has been a real uptick in actual attacks against the AAPI community.

That's another reason why I can't take HM seriously. It's not just me, on numerous occasions he also insinuated that PG and AR are anti-semitic. Meanwhile back when I asked him to stop making racist posts about Asians, he doubled down on it.

And I'll always remember who here stood up and said something about it -- like @Baby Dik Dik, @achilles return, @bdog 29, and @The Monarch -- and who stood on the sidelines and didn't say nothing.

But at least that whole episode brought us the comedic gold of HM eventually getting defensive and arguing that it was okay to make fun of Asian-Americans because they've enjoyed more economic success than other minorities lmao

Everyone here knows exactly where I am coming from with the Asian thing, and so do you.

It has been an extremely long time since I have equated anti Zionism with Anti-Semitism.  At least five years.  I have been hostile towards the Netenyahu administration.  I have clearly expressed that Netenyahu is completely responsible for the latest escalation.  He provoked Hamas.

But none of that has anything to do with what is happening or not happening to Jews outside of Israel.  IF you can assert that anti Zionism is not Anti Semitism (which I agree you fairly can) then you should be sympathetic towards Jews who are paying a price for Israel's actions.

Instead you mock and diminish it.

So what exactly is this about?

Thank you addressing the current concern about violent attacks on Jews in America and elsewhere by posting a tweet about a film from . . . . 2009.

It is almost like you are going out of your way to mock concern about a rise in anti-Semitism.

Because dismissing concern about attacks on Jews is how you show support for Palestinians.

  8. Sunday, there were 231 Covid deaths in the United States.  That was the fewest Covid deaths in a single day since March 23, 2020.

Seven day averages are deaths and new cases are where they were in March 2020 and falling.

It is almost like all we need was a vaccine and a way to get them in folks' arms.

I should have mentioned, my father in law actually has his yellow star. (His parents left their manufacturing business in Hamburg and worked as domestic servants in New York.   They left in 1938.)  I've seen it.  My boys have seen it.

Yeah . . . this issue is close to my family and me.

Not to mention seeing what I can only assume was my family name on a wall of a Holocaust memorial in Prague.

I'm 1000% telling yall a potential future Braves name change is going to be an statewide culture war issue next year and it's going to come out of literally nowhere or like a random editorial comment somewhere of someone you've never heard but now represents "cancel culture" and it's going to get puffed up by Fox News until it's this huge thing where if we don't reelect Kemp we risk them becoming The Wind

So here's a research project for MAGA's:  On an actual per capita basis, rank in order the likelihood that a member of the following identifiable groups has committed a crime:

    1) Central/South American immigrant (legal or non)

    2) BLM protestor

    3) Trump campaign/administration  worker (high level)

    4) Obama campaign/administration worker (high level)

    5) Average American Citizen

This is a touchy subject with Jewish friends who feel like Israel isn't wrong because they have the "right" to that land. Much like some of the younger people in this vid

I don't like these man on the street interviews as an indication of popular opinion.  Obviously too many folks have the opinion expressed here, but we don't know it if is the majority.  There are plenty of Jews and Palestinians working for peace.

It is tough to be fair on either side when you have lost loved ones and neighbors who have been killed by violence.  Somehow, folks need to appreciate that this latest wave of violence was provoked by Netenyahu and escalated by both sides primarily for political survival on both sides.  Hamas and Netenyahu were both extremely vulnerable precisely BECAUSE moderates on both sides are gaining popularity.

The hostility needs to be channeled politically towards the leaders who are killing their own to sustain political power.

You'd think HM would know there are Arab Israelis living in Israel. But it's much easier to call Rashida Talib an anti-semite for pointing out there are people of different faiths living in a country he constantly simps for.

Come on, dude. . . . Just as you just did, MOST people refer to Jewish Israeli's and Arab or Muslim or Palestinian Israli's.  Her choice of language, intentional or not, matters.  There was NO REASON for her not to say "Jewish Israelis's."

She may as well have said "you people"

A joke about a question about war crimes perpetrated by a country we have overwhelmingly supported, and from whose lobby Biden has taken millions of dollars. Pardon the **** out of me if I find it an offensive and disgusting thing for our president to do.

Also, he's the ******* president. "oh noes, it was at an event on a different topic!" Who the **** cares, he's the most powerful man in the world, he doesn't get to pick and choose when he might have to handle a difficult question on a pressing issue.

WAIT:  Exactly WHAT Lobby are you specifically referring to here.  I suggest you think about your answer and maybe even do some research before answering.

Why I'd know you were going to get mad at this? I could written it down on a note card and whipped it out like the prestige it was so predictable

The truck thing is not bad or evil it's just goofy get over it

As for the other thing I'm actually more mad at the reporting staff who just played out a scene fresh out of the fantasies of conservative talk radio when they talk about the relationship between the media and Democrat presidents. That was uncomfortable and cringe no matter how you slice it

Biden has made several statements on the conflict is Israel over the last two weeks.  He is not ignoring it.  If he has not already answered questions directly from the media, he should and criticism for dodging it is appropriate.

Also, as an indicator of how freaked up our relationship with Israel is, the best I can say is that there are leaks that Biden is "taking a tougher approach" in direct private talks to Netenyahu.  And by "tougher" that means "you guy better wrap up this lawless killing and destruction which you unilaterally provoked within a few days or else."

On the other hand, I was with Rashida Tlaib until she referred to Jews as "Israeli's of a certain faith".  Hint . . . if you are taking a reasonable position that is provocative to Jews, ixney on the Anti-Semetic anguage-ay.

Because this is NOT stupid.  At least it is not on Joe Biden's part.  It IS stupid on the folks **** posting on him for doing something to bring positive attention to electric vehicles.  Do you folks really give a **** about the environment?  Because Joe Biden talking about an F150 going 0-60 in 4.4 seconds is getting to do a helluva lot more to preserve the planet than  . . . well a lot.

Getting trucks and SUV's off of fossil fuels would be HUGE.

That will happen on the 12th of Never, or the second Tuesday of next week, whichever comes first.

This has conveniently distracted us from the fact that we're still arming the Saudi's for their bloody genocide in Yemen.

Meanwhile . . . the freakin' "Abraham Accords", or as I like to think of them "Munich Agreement of the MidEast" (About Us Without Us for Palestinians instead of Czechs).  Freakin' Kirshner engineers an agreement where we get bribed to take countries off lists of terrorist states, Israel gets recognized, and everyone passes up a really great opportunity to leverage Israel into doing something for the Palestinians.

I've done a little research, and I cannon find one single thing that Israel did to earn recognition from three new Arab states.
