Don’t know about missing Smith, but his teams always competed and rarely  beat themselves through indiscipline and stupid errors. I wish I could say the same about Quinn.

Smiths teams were a microcosm of a game of inches. Ball control rare shots downfield and eck our a win. There was never a foot on neck moment with Smiths teams (sans Tampa bay 2014) which is why we failed so hard in the playoffs when we ran against premiere teams who could score at will.

Smitty also didn’t know how to develop players, gave to much respect to vets (Steven Jackson over Devonte Freeman????) and his clock management was laughable. The worst thing about Smitty though, the ENTIRE TEAM WAS SOFT. Like him.

I have moved on...because it’s a game. I have a great life. Wife, son, another baby due in 2 months. Love my job. Football is entertainment. I love the Falcons. But my life is literally not impacted whatsoever on what the Falcons do. Did LI hurt? Sure it did. But for me to allow a football game that has zero impact on my life traumatize me is just silly. If you haven’t moved on, then I feel sorry for you. It’s football. The reality is, your life and mine are no different had the Falcons won LI other than we got to enjoy our favorite team win a championship. We are still the same people tomorrow.

And I’m not defending this coaching staff or front office. They suck and deserve to be held accountable. But, people really need to stop referencing the SB loss as a reason to complain about this coaching staff. There are plenty of current issues to be angry about.

Frankly, if anything, the SB detached me MORE. I’ve actually cared LESS and have been LESS angry/emotional the last few years as a result. If the Falcons lose, I shrug it off and go enjoy my life.

You’re wrong. YOU are the one who can’t emotionally detach. People like me moved on years ago

I’m actually hoping for the worse.
I still can’t believe with a team with the talent we have gives up 38 at home and offensively spend and draft what we have can’t put points on the board when it matters.Throw in STs blunders and we are a train wreck.
    This isn’t a one off it’s a pattern.
Its almost like a boxer that needs to take 2 standing 8 counts before he wakes the fark up.Every **** year this ****e is happening.
To me it smells  of a team that hasn’t been prepared correctly.

I understand him not getting a top five vote, I'd say he's somewhere in that 5-7 range most of the time, but the people that did get one over him is absolutely laughable.

    Ryan suffers from BWB syndrome.
    Boring White Boy
    And he plays in Loserville.
Of course, if Ryan happened to play for one of the I-95 teams, or in Dallas or Pittsburgh
...the media would already have him in the hall of fame.

We didn’t show up at all through week 8 last year. That might have been the worst 8 game stretch of play I’ve seen from any squad since I became a fan in the 80’s. Even the worst 3-4 win squads of previous years looked better prepared and better coached than we did In the first half of last season. We did show a lot of fight by not giving up in the second half of the year, but that was too little too late and not good enough for a team with our talent.
As for the brotherhood... the team clearly bought in to the idea in 2016. Since then, the staff have either moved on to different message, or the players have tuned it out after the SB disaster.

This is true. His TD numbers are bafflingly poor given how good the rest of his numbers are.

JJs lack of Tds will keep him from being talked about in the same class as other WR greats. For some reason he has an issue with TDs given the number of receptions and yards he has.

ukfalc got a reaction from AUTiger7222 in Joe Montana & Matt Ryan
Montana is the best of all time IMO. Drafted by an awful team, was a key to turning them around and won 2 SB even before he was fortunate enough to play with Rice. Nobody has been better in big, pressure games. Steve Young inherited a much better situation, and “only” won 1 SB with it.
As for Ryan, he should 100% be a HoF’er based on his likely career numbers and wins. If he played for any of the media darling teams he’d be a lock. However, I’ve always said our players need to be 20% better than everyone else to get the same level of respect and recognition from the media and voters. They overlook the flaws of others, but we are judged solely on our flaws, and unless he wins at least 1 SB (if not 2) I see him being shafted on that basis.

The whining and trolling of Ryan will quickly be replaced by grumbling and whining when he leaves because it will likely be years before the Falcons have another franchise QB anywhere close to his level of play.

ukfalc got a reaction from Francis York Morgan in Where are the Dems?
People need to stop seeing through the world through the twisted, dishonest and corrupted lens of party politics. Neither side gives a **** about the people, equality, or solving any of society's problems etc.
The ONLY thing they care about is the acquisition/retention of political power so that hey can use and abuse for their own benefit.  Buying in to either side's lies and demonising the other side,  is how they control and distract the masses.

The results of the history of trading a bunch of picks for one person is not good. See, Vikings, Minnesota trading the house for Herschel Walker. See also Saints, New Orleans trading all their picks for Ricky Williams.

I know it’s a roll of the dice either way, but a torn ACL in training camp (not wishing that on him) and we would have absolutely zero for this year. I would not have done it.
