Thanks.   It's been a rough year.   I lost my Mom 3 weeks ago.  Haven't had a lot of heart left in me to post.
Doesn't mean I don't still pull for them though.

7 - 1st downs and a touchdown to be exact.
Should have been 8 1st downs but that spot for Hooper was horrible.

Coming from LaCanfora, makes me feel better. The guy always hated falcons even in 2016. Falcons HC job will be most sought after this offseason if DQ gets fired.

Very true.   It seems to be a very cut and dried simple computation with no room for "situations".    But, unless you were going to review every single drive and weigh all of the factors that can play in - it's probably best to do it that way.    Honestly, it feels like penalties have killed more of our drives than anything else this year.

Couple of key things missing from the data are Penalties and field position.
It a team is pinned deep in their end zone, play calling is limited.

That’s an interesting metric as I’ve rarely seen a turnover considered a three and out.  Wish they cited turnovers in the chart.

It clearly says percentage of drives with no 1st down or touchdown.    While number of possessions can certainly skew the number for the Falcons and every other team - turnovers would not skew the number,   If they turn the ball over without a 1st down or touchdown - it's counted as a 3 and out.

They did.  But it can be rescinded at any time before a specific date (sometime in the next league year)

Honestly,  I think it correlates to the states of the olines.
    2013, 2014, and 2018 anyway.
When they did the joint practices with the Bengals in 2013 that was the spotlight that really pointed out the problem.  Then you have all the injuries in both those seasons and losses were aplenty... not just AFC Teams.
With Quinn.  2017 was different.  2017 the team went to a shell in the Miami game and then Quinn and Sark were completely outcoached in the Pats 'revenge' game.  Bills were a close game where one play lost it.
2018.  Back to the trenches.  They lost to the Bengals because of the defense.  The other AFC teams.... the offense couldn't do much of anything.  Steelers thumped them.  For some reason they didn't take the Browns seriously which was probably a red flag.  Ravens were another example of the offense not being able to do anything until garbage time.
2019.  This is pretty clear that there are major problems on both sides of the ball.  Is it being out-schemed?  Did the staff forget how to coach?  Did the players start ignoring the little things?  Did the players start thinking they were better than they are when there wasn't really a reason to?
The more the losses pile up it keeps looking like a new voice is needed.  Either the players have started tuning Quinn out or he's not stressing the details.

Just general randomness. There is no inherent difference between the average NFC and AFC team... it's not baseball where there is different rules between conferences. In a parallel universe those flukey AFC losses could get flipped with any of the other freaky NFC games we have had and this discussion doesn't exist.

Did we get that much worse - did they get that much better or is it something in between?   We've gone from winning the majority of the games the first 4 years (75%) to splitting the games the next 4 years ( 56%) to totally losing the games the last 4 years (including 2 this year) 21%.   Even if we win the next 2 games, we still end this 4 year period with a 31% win ratio.     We've progressively worsened against those teams.    Which is it - us, them or just chance?
Our record against the AFC since 2008:

Yep the last two years of Smitty were bad against AFC and that fits because that was when his  downfall began.

2008 - 2014 under Smith - 64%    2015 - 2019 under Quinn - 33.3%    However, Vel is right about some strange losses.   We should have won against Buffalo for sure.  KC was absolutely flukey too.
