jm_falcons got a reaction from Club212 in Does Dan Quinn remind you of Jeff Fisher?
I don't see it at all. I live in Ten and I am quite familiar with the Titans teams during the Fisher era.  Fisher really wanted to win and you could see it and it translated nicely through the organization. This relationship did take a hit with the drafting of Vince young and it fell apart thereafter. Fisher was very conservative though(this can be a good and bad thing) but the teams worked hard and played for 4 qtrs under him! If Fisher were our coach on that Feb day in 2017, the Falcons would have a lombardi trophy.

jm_falcons got a reaction from supercollider in The Falcon-Quinn link is now poisoned
I do not believe that this organization is as committed to winning as most other NFL organizations are. I think the SB 51 wounds are still and will always be there for those coaches and players that played that game. Falcons need a total overhaul...the likes of which would take us down to an expansion team's level. Does that sound painful? Absolutely....but it is sorely needed.
There is a laziness that exists now. Quite possibly, this is due to the basic concept that football is not the most important thing in the world to these guys. It is that mentality that sets forth the notion that it's ok to not give 100% effort 100% of the time. Now I'm not saying that's acceptable, but it is apparent. But as we all know, when it comes to the NFL, you give less than 100% effort and you are going to lose, and lose frequently.

I wrote the above after the loss to Dallas. I would like to expand and perhaps modify it a bit. I believe now that it is common knowledge of the SB51 loss and the link between it and the Falcons and Quinn. Some of you disagreed with my laziness explanation. Perhaps you were right. But if I may, after thinking about this a while, I believe the problem is that the players become fearful, lost, and are overtaken by a loss of confidence during the 4th qtr of a big game. These are all big games now. Until  the Falcons lose that 7th or 8th game of the season...they still actually have a heartbeat. The pressure combined with the poisoned Falcon-Quinn-SB link are too much for them to overcome. Even when new players arrive, they know about Quinn and the Falcon failures of the past.  They are effected as well.  How else can you explain the 6-2 finish to the 2019 season!?  There was no more pressure....there would be no playoff game to ultimateley suffer another crushing defeat.
So, I look across the board and see 1 or 2 some posts questioning if Quinn is the main problem or a problem at all?  Well my opinion remains that he is not head coach caliber. But regardless of whether that is true or not, I still believe that he and the Falcons should part ways. There is just way too much poison there....and there will be no chance to heal with Quinn as our coach.

jm_falcons reacted to jlrfalcon in POLL - Should Dan Quinn Be Fired Immediately After Game 3 vs. the Bears?
Only 6 teams in NFL history have started 0-3 and still made the playoffs.*
Even if Dan Quinn still went around .500 the rest of this year, we would finish 6-10 or 7-9.
Quinn can blame this week on injuries to some degree but we still should have controlled the 4Q more.
Early firings may be scary to potential new HC's but even they would probably have little to justify Quinn's continued presence right now.
Koetter might end up taking over as an interim HC and his success as OC has not been great.
So, simple question should the Falcons fire Quinn now or hold off for longer.

The right thing for Mr. Blank to do is fire TD, Quinn, McKay and most of the front office. Then he should sell the team to a owner who cares about winning. We want a super Bowl

I don’t doubt our desire to win, but you have to remember that there are 32 teams who work just as hard - and who want to win just as much - as we do. Only 1 can win the SB each year: 31 teams will always come up short. The notion that the team who “wants it the most” or who “works the hardest” always wins, in a BS sporting cliche.
As for the Falcons, I question our organisational philosophy. For a start, I dislike the fact we play indoors on fake grass. That in itself breeds softness imo. I also think playing on real grass takes less toll on the body and reduces the risk of injuries.
For years we played indoors in the GA dome on a sprint track - and our philosophy was to build a fast flashy offensive team around skilled positions. We’ve over invested in WRs and CBS for most of the last 25+ years, at the expense of other positions in my view. That MUST change going forward.
As for Quinn, I really struggle to identify ANY strengths as a head coach. He talks a great game, but that’s about it. His teams are consistently start seasons slowly, look poorly prepared and are undisciplined. His defensive scheme looks awful, and his game and clock manager is about the worst I’ve ever seen. He needs to go ASAP.
At this stage, I think that a total reboot and rebuild is the way to go. Our veteran players like Ryan and Julio simply have too many scars from the bad beats of the past. If we were 20 pts ahead in a playoff game in January, you won’t convince me that those guys wouldn’t all be thinking back to the SB and fearing a collapse at the first sign of a comeback. At this stage, it is a self fulfilling prophesy.
I’d clear house of the end of the season or as soon as the cap allows and rebuild from scratch. Ryan, Julio and Mack are too old to be part of a rebuild anyway. I’ll be sorry to see Ryan go and it would be a huge risk because the chances of drafting a better QB than Ryan are very small, but it’s a risk I’d be willing to take. Losing Julio wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.
Rebuilding will take time and will probably involve a couple of seasons of pain, but I think it gives us a better chance of success than continually trying to recreate the magic of 2016 around the scarred veterans from that team.

Are you going to come out and assert your will on chicago? Or will you do what we expect? Show up nutless and blow this game? Are you men or mice? Or maybe you're rats on a sinking ship.

jm_falcons got a reaction from Falcons Fan MVP in What's your opinion of the Falcons 2020 offense so far?
Its a good offense but not good enough against the better defenses in this league. Those better defenses will be able to dictate to and control the Falcons offense until it is garbage time. At that time, you will see the Falcons move the ball more effectively and maybe even score some points.
The Bears have a very good front 7 on defense. Hopefully the Falcons offense can prove me wrong this Sunday. But I don't see it. Our D better be ready...but that does not look good either.
In regard to this offense averaging 30 points per game?  It really depends on the Falcons defense. If the Falcons D gives up close to 40 every week then yes...plenty of garbage points to be had and the Falcons offense can average 30.
Of course, get rid of Quinn and via addition by subtraction, the Atlanta offense will improve by 7 ppg easily.
