Well, considering that the player he's going to replace fell down in the end zone and allowed an INT, fumbled a possession away, dropped a 3rd down pass , and didn't make GB pay for crowding the line & doubling Roddy, he might have made quite a difference.
If he makes an acrobatic catch in the end zone, doesn't fumble away a possession and makes a few clutch catches, then drives are sustained, D gets some rest and the game changes completely.

I think the best thing for a team with a high draft pick, a solid QB, tight cap and lots of holes is to trade that pick for as many picks as they can. Love to see  3 QBs go in the first 3 picks and have a couple of teams panicking over the 4th QB, getting into a bidding war and giving the falcons a haul similar to what the dolphins got for 3.

Would love for the Falcons to trade with the panthers so they can draft a QB, have the QB be a bust for the panthers and the falcons  end up with an extra high draft pick next couple of years.

If anything maybe 49ers heard about our Wilson visit and jumped ahead of us. That could cause a rush on QBs and get someone to throw us picks for the 4th pick.

Even if we wasn't looking at a qb it makes all the sense in the world to say we are. Drive up the price of the pick. Qb supply and demand. Draft season around here is like sitting down at a poker table and believing what everybody else is telling you.

You do realize you can still trade back and draft the best available player?
Going BPA in no way, shape, or form implies no trade backs. They are not mutually exclusive actions.

I doubt it. He couldn't throw a deep ball in the playoffs. Think the shoulder surgery took a year or two off his career. Plus ,the man has made 274 million on the field, and  another 75-100 in  endorsements on top of that [13 mil in 2018 alone]

He'll make money with whatever he does in NOLA-he's beloved down there. The endorsement money will go way down, but will still be more money than most people see in a lifetime. He'll make millions talking about football if he wants to.

Game in hand? They never had the lead in the second half, how is that game in hand?
A QB that was 7 of 20 with a pick, no passing TDs and a QB rating of 25.  Man barely generated 100 yards of offense in 3 quarters, see no evidence that Hurts would have lead them to a victory had he stayed in.

If they confront Pederson with an accusation of tanking, all he has to say is Hurts was sucking up the joint [and he was] and he wanted to see if the other QB could do any better.

As much as many assume that it's tanking, may just be a bad decision.

Ya know, the only thing I want is for the Falcons to get it right. I have no idea what HG and GM would be best for the Falcons, just get the hires right.

Don't care if they trade Ryan & Julio, burn the team to the ground, start from scratch with a new QB at 3/4.
Don't care if they take a QB at 4 or trade back for multiple picks.

Don't care if they try one more time with Ryan- hopefully using the top 5 pick on a defensive game changer, then pick a stud RB with pick 2 or 3.

Don't care, want them to get it right.

Here's a list of QBs taken number 1 overall in the 2000s:

Vick, Carr, Palmer, Eli Manning, J Russell, Stafford, Bradford, Newton, Luck, Winston, Goff, [Mayfield, Murray, Burrow].

Only one to win a Super Bowl was Eli, and he was a thoroughly mediocre QB who had a couple of good postseason runs.

Leaving out the 3 who got drafted last 3 years, leaves 11
4 of them you wouldn't want- J Russell, Bradford, Goff, Winston.
5 got beat up so bad their careers were cut short- Vick, Carr, Palmer, Newton, Luck
Stafford has never won a postseason game.

Teams made some serious trades to get some of these players. If you have the number one pick, yeah, go for it. Trading up to get  THE QB hasn't worked out in the 2000's

Not hindsight so much as looking at the reality. There have been 14 QBs drafted number 1 overall in the 2000s, only Eli has won a Super Bowl. Three have been drafted in the last 3 years, little early to judge them, but of those three, one is injured, one had a rough sophomore year, the other got sacked 48 times his rookie year.
    From 2000 to the present:
Vick, David Carr, Palmer, Eli Manning, J Russell, Stafford, Bradford, Newton, Luck, Winston, Goff, Mayfield, Murray, Burrow.
Take away the last three, 6 out the remaining 11 got so beat up they lost time/ability. That's what happens to QBs on bad teams.

Obviously I care, I’m a stats kinda guy. But TBH, I could care less what you do and don’t want to hear.
You mentioned Elway.....he never would have gotten a ring until they got him a running game and a defense in his twilight years. We should follow a similar path with Ryan.

Man this sucks, this reminds of when the Falcons were in the NFC west. Honestly not sure they can win another game this year, maybe if Tampa Bay has clenched and is playing a preseason roster. Looks like, though, TB and KC will be needing wins for postseason  positioning.

Looks like the cap will be 175 mil next year. The  owners and the players will probably come up with some money to keep everything in place- maybe  borrowing from future years.  I'm really hoping though, they do something like a one time exemption from cap hits to compensate for that. That would allow the falcons to cut Ryan and still put together a team. Love Ryan, but it's time to move on.
