  1. Seriously, we need all the run stoppers we can roster. Seems odd no injury news yet and it is late Monday morning
  2. yep. they were desperate to use some or any statistic my 10 year old daughter could grasp/ understand. football 101. A hidden point on that was Mularkey's play calling got us into those jams probably or BVG's bend, bend, hope we don't break defense.
  3. It helps to be able to read to respond. I will repeat with bold this time: n the old NFL the run set up the pass. No imagination- run it down their throats. Now the pass sets up the run. The last time the Falcons were in the SB we had our most imaginative play calling- a lot of play action pass on first down, etc. It's all about calling the right plays at the right time- NOT ol Mularkey calling - not formations

  5. believe me. it was the coordinators. BVG is back where he belongs as an assistant in college and Mularkey is where he belongs- running a 20th century team. .
  6. I believe this is a reference to the RB and the slot WR replacing what were traditional short burst running plays with screens, swings and over the middle plays- the plays from the playbook Mularkey must have lost in his house fire 4 years ago. .
  7. 2 coordinators and a head coach who can actually make halftime adjustments (Falcons maybe worst in this category in NFL) and then make adjustments later in the 3rd quarter after the opposition has seen what we have done
  8. yea I think the NFL Network would have given us a D instead of an C without that. Get ready to see D in the trades tomorrow and Monday
  9. NFL Network 5 minutes ago: Falcons: C; Saints C; Panthers B+, Bucs A
  10. Thoughts On Picking Rb In Top 10? No. none. They last 4-1/2 years - cost too much money and are currently platooned. for more help- see: the modern NFL
  11. Actually Nolan's Big Nickel Wolverine defense calls for taking a linebacker and replacing him with a SAFETY, not a corner.... http://www.opposingv...atlanta-falcons
  12. So a Psychiatrist needs to be badly imbalanced to successfully analyze a patient? hmm-mm....
  13. Nolan is still somewhat young too talented to not get another shot a head coaching job- maybe Atlanta if Smitty falters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Nolan Coaching tree Mike Nolan has been linked to more than one coaching tree. He was a defensive coordinator for Brian Billick (who is part of the Sid Gillman/Bill Walsh coaching tree), Al Groh (who is part of the Bill Parcells coaching tree), and Norv Turner (part of the Jimmy Johnson tree). However, Nolan is most directly related to Dan Reeves. Reeves brought Nolan with him from Denver (where he was linebackers coach) to be the New York Giants defensive coordinator in 1993. Nolan excelled at the position and his success served as a springboard for later success with other teams.
  14. You oversold this one on Ryan. He was one of 6 qb's named on the ESPN video piece it wasn't the Matt Ryan Show- you can add Stafford, Freeman and Romo to your previously mentioned 3
  15. More than that both those coaches actually do something Smith doesn't do or maybe his staff didn't know how to do this essential task of winning games. HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS and then adjust again midway through the 2nd half. Smitty's staff ranks 30 to 32 in that area based on that I think the 13th ranking is somewhat ambitious for our Head Coach and coordinators
  16. I gotta laugh at this poor argument. When I lived in Atlanta 19 years ago they had great fans- you ought to see the fans here in the Dallas area - they are no better- spoiled is a better word- North Texas population has a significant advantage over other cities so they can sell tickets based on the numbers game. The "poor fan" propaganda is such a bunch of @#$%^$# for any city. I for a fact know that the New Orleans NHL team and MLB baseball club have great support. One of their NBA basketball teams enjoyed such great support they decided to locate in Utah. Posting on your Saints board does not make a great fan of anyone from another team. Good fans also have some respect. .
  17. It is interesting isn't it? Old sleazy godfather Tuna backed out of helping which means Payton had plans and designs to use intermediaries. Parcell's is too close to a Hall of Fame vote to get involved in that intrigue which may be a reason why he backed away. I had a chance to watch and read those 2 clowns on a daily basis when they were here together in Dallas with their little circus. They always have an extra agenda- which may be a good thing for an OC to possess.... .
  18. I dare say if he was one of the Saints who was warned by the NFL over the past 2 years to STOP IT and then they continued- he will be on the carpet for some detention time. Drew needs to be retold it was the lying and flaunting to the NFL that got them in more trouble than the hits themselves
  19. I think he's done trading up. Artie Blank made the call last year- overruling the advice of Belichek to TD
