Club212 reacted to MAD597 in Adam Rank Predicts the Falcons 2020 Record game by game
I think 7-9 is a best case scenario given our schedule and our off season moves. We still have most of the roster issues from last year and add in question marks in the secondary and it's a recipe for disaster
  2. Thanks
Club212 reacted to MAD597 in My 3 points why we wont make the playoff. Change my mind
    1. Our roster is on paper worse then last year, our Draft and FA was not very good
    2. Our schedule is tougher than last year
    3. Our DL is worse than last year
    4. This is the Falcons

    Agreed.
Folks talk about accountability, but when it comes to Quinn, it's all about "let's move on".  And when I see comments about how he "sees the big picture"  or how he is such a "great leader", I have to object.  The facts speak for themselves.
Is Dan Quinn a good man?  Sure, I have no reason to suspect otherwise.
Is Dan Quinn a great Head Coach?  No.  There is little evidence that he is.

Dan Quinn is no strategy genius He gets out played by other coaches consistantly.  I blame the Cap situation that keeps happening year after year on TD and Mackay.  We sign players coming off injuries year after year.  When one or two of these key players break down we suffer another season.  While paying them to warm the bench.  Same thing year after year.  Now we get to do it in ****en ugly uni's,  against Brees and if that was not bad enough the Buc's imported Brady into the same division.... lol. I don't think Dan Quinn is going to become a great coach against these odds overnight.  I would like a real proven coach.  Not a guy who is doing perpetual on job training course to be a coach.
We will see.  But I would not get y'all hopes up too high.  Falcons be Falcons.

We all know how difficult winning a SB is.  Seriously?  You can not be a Falcon fan and not know that.  What were are saying is that everything was in place to seal the win.  All he had to do is instruct his OC to run the ball to chew up clock time and kick a FG.
At the most crucial time of the championship game, he allowed his young and eager OC to continue to attack foolishly.  It was his job to take command and he did not.  That is lack of leadership.

Frankly, I probably hold myself accountable better than most do.

My thing with Quinn is he was hired to fix the D, and he hasn’t. As already mentioned in thread, he froze up as the team’s HC and choked on the biggest stage. All that plus going 14-18 the past two seasons with two future HOFers healthy and in their primes is completely unacceptable.
All excuses being made for the guy can’t overcome those simple truths.

Anyone in the front office and coaching staff should have been fired after 28-3, over 4 years later and we still have a lot of them around and we are getting worse every year. This year will be another wasted year so hope next year they clean out the house.

He failed to step in and direct his offensive coordinator at the most crucial time in the history of the franchise.  You see it as inexperience, and I see it as a weakness.  It's OK to disagree.
I know that I am still bitter about the whole mess.  After waiting, for over 40 years, the championship was in our hands.  And after the mess, all we get from him are slogans and "I am pumped".
Why am I so bitter?  I may never see the Falcons get that close again.......father time.

I am not a Dimitroff defender. I am apathetic and ambivalent about his being fired or being retained. But please explain how Dimitroff has failed "on an epic scale that will forever stain the history of this franchise"?
Yes, TD has struggled to find the right players on both the offensive and defensive lines in the past. We have to see how this year's line of Matthews/Lindstrom/McGary/possible rookie performs. But it is also inarguable that Dimitroff has, for over a decade, assembled stellar skill position talent. A fair assessment of TD cannot be "failures of an epic scale". Less than perfect? Absolutely. Less than acceptable? That rides on Lindstrom/McGary's performance this year.
A general manager can only draft and sign talent. No general manager (acting strictly AS a general manager) can coach, develop, organize, or call the right plays in the right situations for that talent.
EDIT: As to staining the history of the franchise--- are you new here? This is a franchise that:
had to re-hire a fired head coach (Marion "Swamp Fox" Campell) because no other coach would take the job. let Deion Sanders walk because they wanted to low-ball him. let Jerry Glanville leave tickets at the will-call window for Elvis and park his Harley in hotel rooms on the road. went 30-40 years without back-to-back winning seasons. had our defensive leader and the president of the Fellowship Of Christian Athletes get busted for dropping his wife and kids off at the hotel--- then picking up a hooker who was an undercover cop. had fans cheer when our starting QB was injured. had our star QB involved in an illegal intra-state dog fighting ring. Ron Mexico. 'Nuff said. routinely has home stands with as many or more away team jerseys in the stands than our own team's jerseys. was caught piping in artificial crowd noise. So I don't care how badly TD has struggled to assemble talent on the offensive and defensive lines. Nothing he has done or is likely to do will even make a blip on the Falcons Radar Of Shame.

Quinn and TD are failures here. Failures on an epic scale that will forever stain the history of this franchise.
Until they both are gone we can never hope to erase that failure from the franchise.

I wanted Quinn when Smitty was fired.  Now, I am disappointed.  He caused our SB loss because he was a weak leader.  Since then, he has done little to distinguish himself from the rest of mediocre HC's.
I really don't care that he understands the big picture.

Quinn's a good man. Shows the proper respect to military and first responders. But he should have been fired last year. He's already shown that finishing strong doesn't carry over to the next year. I think it's going to be another rough season coming up, likely fighting Carolina 3rd in the division. Hope I'm wrong, but I've been watching this organization flail away for 47 years. Quinn had a Super Bowl championship on a silver platter and he blew it. He's not the one...

Yeah......wasted efforts which = mental errors, poor execution and attention to details.  All a result of poor coaching.   That’s about all I could say I saw 100% of.  I’ll say it, MR looked out of sync and even JJ made a few mistakes that were out of character.  World class funk considering the talent on this team.  We have too many of these too often.

I think part of the problem is still lack of preseason action. I’ve never seen a regime that plays the starters less. It certainly shows during the first couple of games every season that Q had been here.

Club212 reacted to Francis York Morgan in Which of these players would be easiest to replace in the draft?
Last 4 in your list are UFAs, as someone said. Not talking strictly replacing in the draft here since that'd be suicidal, so I'm including FA in the equation. From easiest to hardest:
    1) Freeman - past his prime, great RB class and already outperformed by guys on the roster. Love the dude but DK can't get it out of him.
    2) Beasley - I say he's easier than Clay because a guy like Irvin replaces what he brings at a fraction of the cost and with a better motor.
    3) Campbell - always been a below average to average LB. Hardest thing to replace is the chemistry and communication and that's always appeared to be his weak point.
    4) Clayborne - value him more than most. He was arguably our most consistent pass rusher, though he's certainly nothing special right now (see: Takk). Got 2 mil last year, 32 coming off a season with 4 sacks...won't be hard to keep for cheap.
    5) Hooper - the hardest if you look strictly at his production and where he ranks among others at his position. But he's easier than Mack in terms of the draft (takes centers a lot longer to "get it" than TEs) and additional compensation this season, as well as how free agency is looking.
    6) Mack - not the best center in the league anymore, but still well above average and with center being such a hard spot to replace (especially in the draft) this is a toughie.
