  7. I did see that. I am going to break my promise to myself and hold my nose to vote against Trump, but I have so many problems with this ticket I won’t even argue with anyone who refuses to vote or refuses to vote for them. The Dems made their own bed here, they have to sleep in it. Trying to shame people into voting for Biden/Harris (or Trump for that matter) honestly makes me despise the person. As far as legalization goes, thankfully the mentality of opposing it is quite literally dying off. It’s absurd how many lives have been ruined by the government over marijuana. It’s far less dange

  9. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's having a front row seat to the suffering that has been caused by the incompetence and active malevolence of Trump's GOP. Maybe if I had a different job and don't see what I see everyday, I would feel different, but these days it's nothing but anger and despair everyday. And I'm not that kind of person normally. Maybe stepping away from here for a while wouldn't be a bad idea. Lately I feel worse after coming here. I probably need a break.

  10. The powers that the executive branch has amassed in the last 30 years isn't how the country was supposed to work either. The presidency was never meant to have this much power.

  11. @PokerSteve, @Vandy, @papachaz, @Ezekiel 25:17, @Tim Mazetti A little story I posted on Facebook that you guys may get a laugh out of. Isn’t it amazing the epiphany we have as humans crossing from one threshold to the next in phases of our life? I have just recently crossed what I considered the threshold into Senior Citizenry or let me rephrase that. I have recently accepted the fact that I have crossed the threshold into Senior Citizenry. I guess I should have been convinced when my first grandson was born or when I joined AARP. Discounts, am I right? 😂 Mine came when I went t

  12. It's my biggest ****ing hangup about voting Biden, and why I mantain that while i may be doing so voting for Biden is probably unethical. I've given Republicans sh*t for years for letting a potato Reagen destroy the lower class but this isn't really much better Just thinking about how we even have to indulge this vanity project still pisses me off Any other election in my lifetime i probably wouldn't be voting Dem this year maybe even including 2016 when Trump was a more hypothetical than tangibly corrupt.

  13. my dude you have done the 'orange man bad' like a dozen times now, as if it's simply crazy that anyone could somehow take issue with the president of the united states presiding over the deaths of over a hundred and sixty thousand dead americans. having watched the republican party cynically deploy fake outrage over the deaths of just four americans, one of which i knew personally, for literal years and to absolutely no end but political damage, i feel pretty confident in telling you that no one is going to waste their time debating the formula for determining quantitative responsibility like

  22. Back in the run up to the 2016 election, I had many of these same debates with @Corn Pop. By that point in my life, I'd seen attempts at major change fall flat. I'd begun to believe it was far more important to either hold ground or make incremental progress than to move backward several steps. I believed that the differences in the candidates and the parties were significant enough that anyone who wanted a progressive agenda had a moral obligation to vote dem - notwithstanding the many places where the parties clearly agreed, and notwithstanding our acceleration into a climate disaster under

  26. oh, i wanted to say one thing. from my perspective, it's basically impossible to tell which path is ultimately going to lead us down the road towards least harm. obviously i have no issue with anyone voting for biden in terms of pure harm reduction, and it's something i continue to struggle with, but i also cannot say with any certainty that a biden presidency is better, in the long run, for this country. we have a pretty good idea that a biden administration is not going to greatly alter the material conditions that produced donald trump's election, and i genuinely fear for whatever wait

  27. You know the whole idea of decentralizing the pamdemic response (except when Trump goes on Twitter or Fox and Friends to threaten state funding cause he can't stay on message) is so his supporters can go around asking how it's his fault for the bad things but them quickly claim credit for the good things... in an election year. It's really not much deeper than that

  28. The cutting of funding to the CDC, the actual pulling out of an epidemiologist in China who was on the ground where we knew the next one would come from, the "Ahhh it's just gonna go away in January through March attitude, the literal firing of the pandemic response team that Obama put in place, the federal pressure against anyone who shut down, and finally the pressure of cutting funding on any state who doesn't offer face to face learning now.

  35. At a minimum, assuming McConnell doesn't retain a majority and blocks literally every single thing they try to do, we need Copmala and Biden's cabinet to reinstate all of the Obama-era environmental regulations that Trump destroyed and get back into the Paris Climate Agreement. A second Trump term won't likely magically lead to a democratic socialist utopia by default in 2024 or 2028.

  42. I'm serious. They will blame Trump for anything. One of these guys blamed Trump for his genital warts. I'm not kidding. Apparently POTUS is responsible for hookers that work at Trump tower. I think what really drives them crazy is that Trump has worked his whole life to great success. First he became a billionaire. Then he became POTUS. Most of the folks here don't even have jobs. They're losers. Believe me. Losers.
