  1. Matt Ryan - Let's get this out of the way first - I want Ryan next year, and I think he's a good quarterback. That being said, he was not very good this year. This was easily his worst year since 2015. He missed a lot of reads, he missed a lot of throws, and he was just generally "off," mostly early on, but also later, he just cleaned up the interceptions comparatively. I was a big DK hater before going back and rewatching games while keying in, but after...Ryan and Freeman were the biggest issues by far. Ryan for missing throws, Freeman for missing holes. If they're less off and making the mo

  2. The draft isn’t for 3 months. Way too early to say this pick is bad

  3. I'll go back and read the rest later, but I wanted to make this comment about Matt Ryan, yes he was off and missed a lot of throws we're used to seeing him make, but I attribute that to the change in systems. In the WCO QB's are taught to throw to spots and trust that the receiver will be there. Ryan played 4 years in that system and had his 2 best years of his career. Then we switched back to Dirk Koetter and now we're back to Ryan trying to throw to receivers instead of spots on the field. It takes two completely different set of mechanics and timings to run each system. Just go back to 2015

  5. If we were around 8th, maybe we could draft someone like Vic Beasley or Jamaal Anderson, you know?

  6. From Chad Simmons: Talking to sources throughout the day today, it is clear Matt Luke “KILLED IT” with Jones. One source told me, “Matt Luke made a quick connection with Broderick and I think he may like him even more than he did Sam Pittman.”Another told me a few minutes ago: “Matt Luke killed it with Broderick. He was very personable and the two just hit it off. Broderick decided Friday morning that he wasn’t going to visit Auburn, and I think he really knew that last weekend when he left his official visit to UGA.”One of the sources mentioned Dell McGee too, and said he played a role in

  10. Good job FYM....agree pretty much 100% with your player takes. Matt was off most of year, freeman ran tentative, Wes was much better than TAFT claims. McGary was mucho better than D-Led/media claims as well. Cominsky should have gotten more snaps IMO. Only place I disagree is the OC/DC performance. I thought Both DK and especially DQ were god awful coordinators last season.

  11. Let me just say that it so amazing that we lost Sam mother ******* Pittman, and the only OL recruit we lost was Braun, and, not only that, we appear to have not lost any significant (if any) ground with our 2021 GA OL recruits We lost the one recruiter who everyone said we absolutely could not lose, and didn't miss a beat. That is some **** impressive recruiting, as well as some **** impressive hiring by Kirby

  15. Your re-analysis of the team is fantastic. However, I worry about this one. It took us so many years to find a Tony G replacement. In the years that we had Tony, his hands were the gift. Sure, he moved in concrete, but he took in EVERY BALL thrown his way. I would dare to say Hoop’s hands are the second best we’ve had on the team and I don’t know how many years it could take us to find a similar skill set again. Probably when Matt has long since retired. We just haven’t figured out how to use Hoop quite yet in order to maximize his potential to the team.

  16. Honestly? I think if you want to sum up the problems on both sides of the ball early, it's "communication." Communication between the staff and the players, communication between players, communication between the play caller and those called to execute it. And that was our biggest problem in 2015 too and when it got cleaned up we blew the lid off of folks. I'm NOT saying 2020 is going to be like 2016. Nobody should expect that. But it ought to be a whole lot better, which I think is why Quinn is still here and why he didn't fire Koetter.

  17. listen mannnnn.... im glad someone we looked at the games also and saw alot of the things i saw. Kalib McGary: He had a couple of really rough games (at the end of certain games) that makes his year look downer then it was... He had more good then bad and i was encouraged... Coaching plus a year under his belt plus development and conditioning .. If i remember it correctly the 2nd saints game... He had a solid game until the very end where he looked tired and technique and everything was just off... I really like what we have in he and Lindstrom John Cominsky: Seeing hi

  18. I agree with everything. Apparently you and I were watching the exact same Falcons team all season. Your criticism of Ryan was spot on. He looked befuddled and often lost his composure well before the pass rush got to him. His throws were often off-target and generally had a very poor season for him. Taking a second look at Mack you feel better about his play, which I definitely find reassuring. Toward the end of the season I really thought he was a liability out there on too many plays. Great to have some renewed confidence he can still be the glue that holds the OL together. Agree

  20. Bortles can’t push Ryan. To achieve that goal you either have to draft Burrow or spend $20 million on a backup

  21. No recruiting related but somewhat Dawg related. Mecole Hardman is playing for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl today, marking I believe 19 straight years of Dawgs in the big game. I’ll be pulling for the Chiefs today. Can’t help but root for Andy Reid as well.

  22. My big reasoning is that we have a tremendous corps of receiving weapons already and Mack leaving has more of an effect on the offense as a whole than Hooper. I have more confidence in Graham replacing Hooper with a drop off that doesn't cripple the offense than replacing Mack with Schweitzer or a rookie.

  24. Now that hurt and left a scar! But to be fair... Jamaal Anderson couldn’t hold Beasley’s jock! And that’s more of a shot at just how horrible Anderson was, not praise to Vic!

  25. I may be on the other side of the fence about this thread. While I don't totally disagree with it. I feel the struggles came for clueless coaching decisions. Matt was put in position to either fail or make DK look good. The past two seasons, he's has over 600 pass attempts. The only successful season we've had with that many pass attempts was 2012. Of course we had an awesome group of receivers with Julio, Roddy, Gonzo, and Douglas. At the end of the day, we needed balance on offense.

  26. Good post. I think some of the happy feet and frustration came early, like you stated, due to a scheme change. May have had some shanny stuff, but wasn’t it. He’s already adjusted and done well under sark as well. The running game—or lack thereof—certainly didn’t help.

  27. There are a lot of patterns you can pick up on by watching consecutive snaps of consecutive games one right after another, fast forwarding through halftime and commercials. I did that last year and some patterns emerged of some things I hadn’t noticed just watching games live. Interesting observation on McGary wearing down late in games. Fatigue can cause mental mistakes or make a player slower to react creating the illusion he lacks physical talent. I also believe Free’s best days are long behind him and we need a new primary RB.

    I think 16 is a bad spot

Glass is half full. In extremely unlikely event everyone is off your board, we can trade down. Real value of draft is in 2nd round anyway. Give me RB J Dobbins, Edge Terrell Lewis, DL Rashard Lawrence and S Antoine Winfield Jr. and I’m a very happy fan.

  29. Take any previous draft and fast-forward 3-5 years later. A high majority of the top part of the 1st round players that everybody was in love with will end up being out of the league, backups, or just average by NFL standards. Only a very small percentage of them actually live up to their pre-draft hype. If you look at true game-changing players in the NFL, just as many were drafted after the first round as were drafted in the first round. While there is definitely a science to drafting and some GM's are head and shoulders above others in their resume of drafting players, it is still in

    Blank on Hooper, others

They paid Vic $13MM no problem. If they can't find a structure to pay Hooper $10MM, they should be fired. They paid Sambrailo $7MM per year, but can't find $3MM extra to pay a 2x Pro Bowl TE. Think about that.
