I've become more optimistic about Allard, he's shown real improvement in Gwinnett both in velocity of the 4-seamer and location of all his pitches. That said, if Allard and Burrows gets Felipe Vázquez through 2023, you make that trade right ******* now and pray the Pirates don't come to their senses.

He’s perfect for Adam Warlock or Silver Surfer imo I see a lot of people saying Gambit but I don’t know if I like him for that role. Gambit is younger, more built and has to have a great Cajun accent with a lot more charm than I think Keanu can pull off.

Problem with all these conspiracy theories is that the NFL and Vegas don't care who wins, both are still making billions of dollars whoever wins. They really don't care who wins.

I think the moral of the story is Saints fans are whiny sore losers and NFL refs have thin skin.

    DeAndre Hunter at 4!

He's the easiest player to praise. His team earned a one-seed with him. He gets injured and they become the first one-seed ever to lose to a 16-seed. He comes back this year, his team earns a one-seed and wins the national championship. In the final game, he scores 27 points, gets nine rebounds, and helps hold Jarett Culver to 5 out of 22 shooting. Duke players are going to go 1, 3, and somewhere else in the lottery. We're drafting the guy who won the ring.

Imma be honest, besides Zion, Hunter was the guy I wanted next. Granted I only watched Murray State games like maybe once but I watched a TON of Virginia. Buddy can lock down some defense.

We have $62M coming off the books with four expiring contracts after this season. Plus up to two first round picks (CLE pick Top 10 protected). We should pick up two nice pieces tonight. Looking like Hunter and Hayes. I'd be good with that. We need defense more than anything and both of them can move that meter. Take them and sign a veteran back up point and we will be a much better team this year. Should end our two year playoff hiatus and start a long playoff run.

I would have preferred Culver but Travis is shoring up that defense now instead of waiting on free agency. Hunter will be their Draymond Green. They still have the 10th pick also. Good move by their general manager...

DeAndre Hunter will be a good player - probably not an all-star but maybe can get there some years. Is 8, 17, 35 and an expiring contract too much? YES You gotta remember though - this is a 4-5yr rebuild and we are just starting year 3. Hawks will have oodles of cap room in 2020 or 2021 to put finishing touches and top FAs by then.

I've coveted him on this board literally this entire year, so I clearly disagree.

Rigged? Really... A business this large has no benefit in rigging the results. No matter who wins the SB every year the NFL will have stupid amounts of money pouring in. However if it was rigged and it did get proven the business would be ruined. We lost the SB. We blew it. Get over it.

Ratings is a drop in the bucket compared to building a fan base in tye second largest city.
  15. 2 points
I'm surprised the referees didn't favor the Saints vs the Rams because a Brady vs Brees super bowl would have done the best ratings. As far as super bowl blowouts is concerned we know most of America would enjoy seeing the Patriots get their @$$es handed to them for 60 minutes on the big stage.
  16. 2 points
The NFL worked really hard to get NE WR to catch that ball one inch from the ground... they had that planned before the season started...
  17. 2 points
YES. this was exactly what they were doing...it was a desperate measure to make the game more competitive. i mean the Super Dome has seen better days to say the least but man youre telling me that the lights went out magically and then magically came back on. youd think there would be backup generators that could power an entire state in any nfl facility hostin gthe SB

Yeah I'll probably take the kids to see it again. I told them it was being re-released with like 8 minutes of new scenes and they got all excited about it. I saw it twice so it will be my third as well. Supposedly the extra footage includes extended interaction scenes, a post credits scene and a tribute piece for the Infinity Saga.

Jesus Christ I can't believe some of the nonsense on this thread. Rigged games? The NFL is the biggest and most profitable sports league on this planet. Do you know what the repercussions would be if it ever were found to be "rigged"? No, most of you probably don't, else you wouldn't be saying it's "rigged" LMFBO.
  21. 2 points
I don't think games are scripted, but I do believe refs can A: get emotional and can be influenced by the crowd; B: be star struck by star players (i.e. flag players if they breathe near Tom Brady or Drew Brees) C: umps have favorite/hated teams too (i.e. Jerome Boger and him stating that he didn't like the Falcons- the man shouldn't ref another Falcons game).
  22. 2 points
That was the worst game I've ever seen. They called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Freeman for just saying something to a Saints player. We never had a chance that game with Sean Payton crying all week leading up to it.
  23. 2 points
Oh man that game got me heated. I was chill for most of it until the refs had the audacity to call an OPI on Julio when it was clearly not OPI.
  24. 2 points
Sounds like you need to read the NFL rule book. That rule had been there awhile and a few seasons after that... Games aren't rigged, fans are just sore losers.
  25. 2 points
If the NFL was rigged we would know about it. No one would be able to keep that secret.
  26. 2 points
How is it rigged when you choke the game away ??, i understand they made some crazy calls but the refs didnt blow a 25 point lead in the 4th qtr. yall cant really believe that was rigged putting personal feelings aside , there is no one to blame but us
  27. 2 points
This. Wasn't that the same year that the refs allowed the Saints to rape Brett Favre? That game was obviously rigged.

Katrina superbowl.. Which imo the Saint entire season that year was rigged
  29. 2 points
The Saints game season before last, where they had been whining all week about ref calls. The one where the refs had us in 3rd and 312. That game was so obviously bogus that I almost quit following the NFL entirely because of it.

I think he’s the national defensive player of the year. People are rediccc... alas the only number one seed in history to loose to a 16 was going to be a trash talking point. But it’s rendered moot being the natty champ the next year. I tip my cap to them.

Me too bro. I think he's the right pick at four, unless Zion, Ja or Barrett drops to it. That probably aint gonna happen. I know the TATH Culver Nation is disappointed but if it's Hunter I think they'll warm up to him.

    2019 MLB Season Thread

Some of y’all have undoubtedly seen it, but it’s being reported that MLB has given permission for the Rays to explore becoming baseball’s first multi-city team. There is apparently interest in playing early season games in Tampa, while closing out the season in Montreal.

If it was rigged then that means Favre was scripted to throw that pass across his body instead of running 5-10 yards and kicking a game-winning FG. If that game was scripted in our favor, they wouldn't have flagged us 9 times for 88 yards. Not only just our NFC Championship vs. the Rams, but the AFC Championship this year too. Before January, there was only 6 Conference Championship games that have gone into overtime, so what are the odds that for the first time in NFL history, BOTH Conference Championship games go to overtime in the same year due to bogus calls (and no-calls) from the supposed "all-star officiating crews"? They can go sell that bridge somewhere else. Outright rigging I'm skeptical of, but they're definitely influencing and swaying games as they see fit to make more money. Coincidentally, that SI article I linked above just so happened to be posted... you guessed it, the day of the Conference Championships this year. Hmmm. Exactly what happened in the NFC Championship. Both instances shouldn't have resulted in overtime but did. To anyone with functioning eyes could see, that was a fumble and that was pass interference. Bingo. The 49ers couldn't get their **** together in the allotted half-time and resumed their collapse in the 3rd quarter giving up a 108-yd kick-off return TD to start the second half. If there's never a prolonged delay and essentially a 2nd halftime for the 49ers to fix their broken gameplan, the Ravens absolutely mop the floor with them the entire game. Who won isn't exactly the point, they were trying to dampen a blowout and keep viewers entertained (and it worked). From August 2006 (when Goodell assumed his role as commissioner) until that point in time, the average margin of victory in the Super Bowl was 7.2 points and no Super Bowl had been won by a margin greater than 14 points. The Ravens had a 28-6 lead and they were about to get the ball back considering the Ravens just sacked Kaepernick and the 49ers were facing a 3rd & 13 from their own 40 until the blackout stopped play for 34 minutes. That combined with Jacoby Jones returning the 2nd half kick-off for a TD and the prolonged Super Bowl halftime show, the Ravens' offense had not seen the field for over an hour when they last touched the ball at about the 2 minute warning. So when they finally did touch the ball, their offense had gone cold and sputtered. Meanwhile, "oh the lights are back on... and so is the 49ers offense!" Another interesting fact was since this blackout occurred (if it was by the NFL's design), is what happened in the Super Bowl the very next year with the Seahawks slaughtering the Broncos. Had the Ravens-49ers Super Bowl been more competitive for its entire duration, I don't think the blackout occurs in New Orleans, but in New Jersey at MetLife instead. So you can imagine how pissed the League was having to eat that **** sandwich knowing they couldn't pull that trick out two years in a row. Brady, yes, but saying Brees gets roughing the passing calls frequently is a reach. We've benefited from 4 roughing the passer calls (including only 1 all of last year, including the playoffs) in the last two years, that's an average of 1 every 8 games (1 every 9 games when factoring in the 4 playoff games). Meanwhile y'all have benefited from 7 roughing the passer calls in the same time frame, nearly double. Because he only needed 35 yards to break the record and that record was going to fall on that drive considering our offense had 62 yards in real estate to accomplish it in. It's simple math. Because of tourists, like you.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but do you find it a little odd that when Shanahan left for the 49ers that he got Garappolo from the Patriots?
  41. 1 point
ohh but did u forget the play where two falcons player literally fight over the ball and allows edelman to catch it when it should have been 4th down ? or when jake matthews decide to hold or sanu decided to grab the facemask ?? or when the defense literally couldnt stop anyone anymore ?? or when the offense went brain neutral in 3rd and 4th qtr ?? ohh but we cant forget the most important. Simply run it three times and kick the field goal and you win the game. Stop trying to look for an excuse when there isnt any. The team folded, they lost this game. Not the refs or the league. Im surprised yall are still blaming refs for the SB loss.

A lot of games in the Superdome in the past decade. Particularly the first game back there after Katrina. Atlanta zero chance in that game even before the coin was flipped. Another game that comes to mind is the game in Atlanta when the Falcons beat the then 14-0 Panthers in 2015. They did their best to give Carolina the ball back in a run out the clock situation late in that one with clock stopping phantom penalties on our offense. Looked extremely fishy.
  43. 1 point
No one forced Shanny not to run the ball 3 times after Julio's catch. 3 runs, a chipshot FG, and the game is over. Rigged? No.

It takes one freak play to change an NFL game. It's impossible to rig an NFL game. Pay a ref and influence......sure. Rig or script a game...nah. Can't do it.
