  2. This is why i don’t mind trading up to 3 if Williams is still available. We have talent across the board and not a lot of holes so I don’t mind sacrificing some picks for a guy like Williams who is a game changer.

  4. I like the 1st and 2nd drafts...
  5. HOU trade would be ideal.... He didn’t have Lindstrom in 1st round....
  6. I just don’t see this being our pick. We are so focused on guys who are explosive and get to the qb. I really think we only trade up if Williams is available at 3. If we don’t do that, I wouldn’t be shocked to see us trade down and take a cb.
  7. Completely agree. I think he is a solid top 20 starter in a few years. Could bet us a 2nd or 3rd via trade
  8. i can see that dex is a want..im not exactly sure what our biggest need..CB, OT, DE, or DT in no order. at this point id be happy to stay put and go BPA in an area or need.. thats a good point. the ones below dont have the need. but another team could trade back up in the first (including falcons).
  9. The dogs need to figure out how to get Mathis on the field. Maybe as a receiver? He has big play potential I think.
  10. I guess for me, Dex feels like a WANT but not a MUST HAVE - so I would be willing to gamble a little. If someone not to far behind our pick at #14 offered me a 3rd or early 4th rounder, and I had someone I liked almost as much - I would gamble there - it's a good spot in the draft to gamble if Dex is your guy. Directly behind the Falcons at #14 is: Washington(#15 - no DT need), Carolina(#16 - no DT need), Giants(#17 - could take a DT but doubt it - depends on what they do at #7), Minnesota(#18 - they MUST take an OT), Tennessee(#19 - they could take a DT).
  11. Whoop whoop Dex please!!! I know i keep saying it but he will help Everyone. I believe he is our guy.
  12. yes with Turner the Burner. weve had our fair share of FA woes, but we have had some homeruns too
  13. LOL People can’t just answer the question without some sort of debate as to why the question is invalid. It’s funny.
  14. Outside of an awesome name, why is Rock Ya Sin a 1sr round projection?
  15. im not so definitive. at this point if Dex is highly rated on our board and if we are not gearing up for a move up, then big Dex might be the safe pick.
  16. That was indeed a great one. Then the Falcons screwed the pooch by trading for Jeff George in 1994 and giving the Colts a 1st round pick in 1996 that became Marvin Harrison.
  17. Mock Draft #1 Dexter Lawrence DT Tytus Howard OT Chase Winovich EDGE Isaiah Johnson CB 4. Mecole Hardman Returner/WR Will Harris FS/SS 5. Cole Holcomb LB Elijah Holyfield RB Jake Bailey P/KO Brief Comments on Mock #1: I think that an area of need for the Falcons, which is not being discussed all that much on these boards, is a Returner/Speedy WR. I don' t think that FA signing of Kenjon Barner is the answer. He is not all that good of a Returner, and he's wasting a RB roster space. I would much prefer to see the Falcons get a more dynamic Returner, a #4WR with speed, and get a power running back to better match-up with some of our newer Offensive Linemen. That's why I like Mecole Hardman so much as Returner/WR, and a power RB like Elijah Holyfield. Also Matt Bosher's leg looks about done, so the Falcons definitely need to replace him and his high cap-hit for a Punter/KO. I think Jake Bailey is the best Punter in this class as to distance and position, who also doubles as a Kick-Off specialist. Mock Draft #2 Montez Sweat EDGE Jeffrey Simmons DT Sean Bunting CB Nate Davis OT 4. Diontae Johnson Returner/WR Lamont Gaillard OC 5. Devine Ozigbo RB Ulysees Gilbert LB Stephen Denmark CB/S Brief Comments on Mock #2: Montez Sweat is one of the best Edge pass-rushers in this draft, who might drop to the Falcons at #14 due to heart concerns. Jeffrey Simmons is certainly first-round talent, who might fall to the Falcons spot in Round 2, due to his recent knee injury. Sweat and Simmons would be great insurance against possibly losing Beasley and Jarrett to free agency next year. Mock Draft #3 Cody Ford OT Rock Ya-Sin CB Oshane Ximines EDGE Khalen Saunders DT 4. Mecole Hardman Returner/WR Will Harris FS/SS 5. Cole Holcomb LB Elijah Holyfield RB Jake Bailey P/KO Brief Comments Mock #3: Cody Ford will be an instant starter at RT, and might move to OG in the future. He fits the newer breed of Falcons Offensive linemen as one who will completely impose his will against defenders. The last 5 draft picks are the same as Mock #1, because I like these particular players so much as great value picks in significant areas of need for the Falcons. Safety Will Harris and LB Cole Holcomb combine speed, athleticism, and effort with on-field production.
  18. I don't do mocks but I do watch a ton of film and thought I'd put out my list of guys whose film I liked and think could fit in this team. I've ranked them by position group and earliest rounds I would like them ex. RB3 = Running back 3rd round at earliest. There are guys who I am completely fine with (like Dillard and Risner for the OL) but they're not here because I didn't love their film as much as the guys as a fit for what I think we are trying to do in 2019. OFFENSE I've been favoring JW a bit more in recent days due to polish but would be over the moon to get Ford. Tytus feels like he could be special with good coaching if we don't go OL in 1st...l like Chuma Edoga but not the potential character issues. Bradbury would be a luxury pick and why I don't have him in the 1st though he may very well go mid to late first. OL1: Jonah Williams, Cody Ford, Jawaan Taylor OL2: Tytus Howard, Chris Lindstrom, Garrett Bradbury OL3+: Yodney Cajuste, Ross Pierschbacher, Lamont Gaillard I'm personally set to go into the season with the guys we have but if we went RB, only one RB I'd take before 4th. RB3: David Montgomery RB4+: Justice Hill, Bruce Love, Ryquell Armstead Other than Hardman, I don't really care with our WR corp. I think Hardman could be a great returner and take those occasional Marvin Hall snaps. WR3+: Mecole Hardman Another position where we got a full plate. I'd grab big dynamic guy with ball skills like Wesco late and let him compete with Stocker. TE5/FB5: Trevon Wesco I don't love this QB class but I found one late round guy that kinda reminds me of MR2 (similar size too) and I'd like to get him to compete with Kurt. QB6+: Garner Minshew DEFENSE Beaten to death, I am pretty sold on one of the three DL below though I say it's 50/50 we do something else. The guys in have DL2 will likely go in 1st and Saunders perhaps mid to late 2nd. DL1: Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, Ed Oliver DL2: Rashan Gary, Jeffery Simmons, Jerry Tillery DL3: Khalen Saunders I don't think the DE/EDGE prospects at the top of this class are amazing (the ones who could be around at 14) but these are the guys who I see some promise in. DE1: Brian Burns, Clelin Ferrell DE2: Chase Winovich DE3: Ben Banogu DE4+: Austin Bryant, Jalen Jelks, Maxx Crosby Likewise, I don't love the top of the CB class. CB2: Justin Layne CB3+: Sean Bunting, Trayvon Mullen, Julian Love, David Long Only two LBs I would care to take as I really think Debo, Dre and Foye would work fine so this not a priority for me and would be fine with any guy who can either tackle well like Pratt or be all over the place like Joseph. LB2: Germaine Pratt LB3: Vosean Joseph I have not evaluated any Safeties and would not draft a kicker though I do like Tyler Newsome. Who you got on your wishlist that's not here? Who you taking off?
  19. I totally understand why the Falcons don't do that though. Who wants to go up against Cowboys or whatever other NFC East team that FOX deems America wants to see on a consistent basis for TV ratings? Also, if that were to happen the Falcons would only get a very small pocket of coverage while the rest of America gets previous said game. The NFL should force FOX to stop sholving the Cowboys and the NFC East down everyone's throats. It's like my stupid CBS station always sholving the Patriots down my throat. I live in Alabama. I couldn't give two ***** about the Patriots so why are they on my TV every week when the Tennessee Titans play less than 100 miles from where I live? What about the other southern teams like the Texans, Jaguars, and Dolphins? Nope... The only time I don't get the Patriots is when the Patriots play a prime time game or the Saints or Falcons are scheduled for CBS. I don't even get the Panthers or Bucs when they play on CBS.
  20. Wish the Braves were playing today but our boys need a break so that’s good for them.
  21. Also: Ending slavery is a slap in the face of everybody who died in chains, putting the Surgeon General's warnings on cigarette packs are insults to everybody who died of cancer or emphysema, and putting auto-shut off circuit breakers in toasters is disrespectful to everybody who ever tried to dig out a piece of toast with a fork.
  22. It's so close to being a good unit. First improvement is DQ over MM. Second improvement has to be the DL play. If Tru can get back to his top level of play and Oliver can improve off of where he left off, we have two good boundary corners. We saw Debo come back no problem. If Neal comes back ready to rock, we have one of the best MLBs and SSs covered. It really comes down to the DL. Can Takk play a full season like he did the first half last year? Can Vic do something? Can Grady keep being a beast and take maybe even another step? Do we have enough depth to send waves of guys without having to be a packaged based rush group?
  23. I remember when we had that with smitty. Most hated it then.
  24. Folty did a much better job of that last year. It's why he took his game to the next level.
  25. I have seen a lot of mocks with Christian Wilkins going to Miami Dolphins right in front of Atlanta. Outside of QB, it is their greatest need and - by all accounts, the Dolphins appear willing to wait until 2020 which looks to be a better QB class at the top. As we all have been watching, no one has much connected Christian Wilkins to the Falcons - although his style of play, what he's good at and his off-field profile appear to match-up w/ the Falcons like hand-in-glove. I am not aware of private meetings/workouts w/ WILKINS but the Falcons have a good ability to hide those sometimes as we have seen in the past. IF the Falcons truly have dialed in on Christian Wilkins, I could see them hopping Miami to a team like the Packers and maybe giving up our 4th rounder (#117) and maybe a 5th rounder in 2020 - it's only a 100 point jump so it wouldn't take much. I know we believe the Falcons may covet Dexter Lawrence more, and apparently Peter King must see the connection as well as no mock anywhere has Dexter Lawrence going in the top 20. I would like to see the Falcons maybe try and trade down 4-5 spots if Lawrence is the pick - definitely believe he will be available at #20.
