MLB Spring Training

  • Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Monday, the club told reporters (including Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram).  Hamilton underwent two surgical procedures on that same knee last year and has been bothered by soreness in the same joint this spring.  According to assistant GM Mike Daly, the Rangers still “feel good that Josh is going to play,” and haven’t had any talks with the veteran about his future with the organization.  Texas re-signed Hamilton to a minor league deal over the winter as the former AL MVP is attempting to revive his  career after several injury-plagued down years, plus a lost 2016 that saw him play in just one minor league game.

Update:  Hamilton out 2 to 3 months after torn cartilage repaired

Jung Ho Kang pleaded guilty to his DUI charge. He got 8 months in jail but it's suspended for two years assuming he doesn't violate it. Kang has a history of DUI's. He had two in his native South Korea. This is his first in the US. He's also been accused of sexual assault since coming over. No word if MLB will act on the DUI.

There is a bigger stadium available with proper dimensions that sits 4,200. The game will be broadcast primetime on ESPN with the LLWS teams in attendance.

Manfred said he expects Olympic officials to reach out soon about players being allowed to play in the 2020 Olympics. As you can imagine Manfred said it's unlikely to happen and would have to clear a lot of hurdles.
