MLB Contracts

Hey @K26dp, I'm in the process of trying to update my Braves payroll spreadsheet and I was just wondering if there was an easy way of figuring up a player's service time other than just going through and counting days? For example, I'm trying to figure out how many days of service time Mallex Smith picked up in 2016, I know 172 days is equal to one year.

I don't know of any. I think Smith was called up just a week or so into the season and never went back down (except on rehab assignment), so he probably gets credit for a full year since as you say 172 = a full year, but the baseball season actually has around 183 days in it.

I finally saw that Cot's baseball contracts had the updated service times on it and Smith did get 1 full year of service.

McKirahan and Marksberry aren't on the 40-man anymore and you're missing Chase d'Arnaud.

Alright, I'll take them off. I guess I forgot Chase.

What about the pre-arb, arb years. Those are always hard to figure.

EDIT: For some strange reason Chase isn't listed under the Braves on Cot's.

He's listed on the 40-man roster, so I'm guessing it's an error with Cots.

MLBTR estimates for arb players are usually pretty good.

Anthony Recker (4.000) – $1.0MM
Arodys Vizcaino (3.168) – $1.6MM
Paco Rodriguez (3.120) – $900K
Chris Withrow (3.111) – $1.2MM
Ender Inciarte (2.157) – $2.8MM
Ian Krol (2.149) – $1.0MM

Pre-arb will be determined in the new CBA, so no one knows yet.

Yeah. I'll wait until the numbers are official before posting those.

He's not in the organization anymore.

Well that's disappointing. I thought he showed well in 2015. I had actually totally forgotten about him until I was looking at some of my older stuff.
