Three most needed improvements for success in 2016

12 posts in this topic

I'll do it tis way--covers more ground

1.Better Pass Defense--includes pass rush and LB coverage

2. More production from 3,4,5 receiving targets--- ie WR,TE,RB

3.  improved O-line play -----both pass protection and run blocking

1. Interior OL play.

2. Better production in the red zone on offense.

3. Better LB play vs. the run.

Better ball control and winning the turnover battle. 'Nuff said.

Scoring touchdowns in Red Zone. We need six points when the opportunity presents itself.

Win individual battles on defense. We need all levels to support each other.

Better QB and C play are the biggest things.  Both, in my view, are a given.  Ryan is solid and has another year in the system, so the mistakes will be drastically reduced.  Mack is Mack.

Beyond that, the LB play is the biggest question mark.  We drafted some guys, but we really don't know what we have (or if they'll start) until several weeks from now.  Pass rush should be improved, but I question how much, so that's another.  A lot of people are saying WR, but I would suggest "pass catcher," because it's possible someone like Hooper steps up especially in the red zone.  I don't know that we need stellar WR2 and WR3 play, but we do need more options for Ryan to hit.  Playmakers who can move the chains and get in the EZ.

Better communication between coaches, QB, OL and especially receivers on offense

Better communication between coaches and players on defense

A gelling in the schemes on both offense and defense, especially on offense
