I just found out Kevin Cone is the son of family friend Ronny Cone who played for the Jets until Mark Gastineau ended his career tearing up his knee in practice. Ronny is from my families hometown of Statesboro, GA. He and Cassius Osborn still have records up at Statesboro High in track, also the alma Mater of my little cousins Jeremy Mincey and Justin Houston who's dad also was on that record setting track team. If Kevin is anything like his dad he's a speedster. So I guess from this point on I'm cheering for him to get one of the last available wr spots. What have any of you guys that have been to TC seen out of Kevin Cone?

a lot of people around me swear he is fast. he should make it to at least the Pre-season games before the final cut.

For me I have my hopes for James Rodgers making the team. But for many around me they like Cone a lot for his speed and catching ability.....But James does those catches as well, and is also a ST.

Cone, Calvin, or Rodgers. Any will do fine for me. I would say that most like Rodgers because he's Quizz's brother and Calvin because of his speed. I like Cone because of team continuity.

So, go Cone!

I'm with you brother. From what I've read they're keeping 6 wr's and Meire is the 4th so that leaves 2 spots they're fighting for. Maybe Kevin and James get those.

I agree. I like Calvin and Rodgers. Cone seems to showing why they keep keeping him around. I like Calvin's measurables and if he can learn some things from Roddy and Tony, he could be something. Rodgers is a Rodgers. He is a good player and should be the 6th if they do carry 6.

That's what I'm hearing is they're gonna carry 6. Don't know much about Calvin tho.

Calvin is a tools project, nothing more.  Made almost no impact in 4 years at Cal, despite ridiculous size/speed combo.  He must be god awful skill wise.

Dude is really fast, but I doubt he plays any role on the offense. Meier is significantly better from what I've seen.

I'm rooting for Cone and Tuey, but Tuey has a tough road to get in at safety again.

Cone had the last WR spot on the Falcons last season. Coach Smith has already said that Cone is looking the best out of all of the WR's on Special Teams that's fighting for those final spots. So patnah patnah, between the coach's familiarity with him and his special teams abilities, i'm pretty sure he'll be 5 or 6 as WR on the roster. At worst, he'll be on the practice squad like the beginning of last season. At best, special teams player.

Man I know how easy it is to jump on a bandwagon when you have a connection.

But from what I've seen so far I like Drew Davis over Cone. Not as fast but a more fluid route runner.

Truth be told I don't give a dam if Billy Ryckman is our #1WR. I just need a Lombardi. I'm tired and need rest.

I am rooting for Cone as well but no matter who is the 5th receiver, I hope that the 4th and 5th wrs will play a significant part in the offense as well behind Julio, Roddy, and HD in this new scheme.

I want James Rodger to get the 5th receiver spot. He is small and quick so he gets the YAC. He's a return man. Plus he can play RB. He's the type of player I want. If we keep Cone. He's the same type of guy we already have. We already have big WR like Julio, Roddy, and Kerry. Now we need more slot guys like Harry. Plus it would be cool to have brothers on the field at the same time.
