One thing I notice about the just released Falcons 2012 regular season schedule:  there are no consecutive weeks in which there are back-to-back home or away games.

In other words, every home game is preceded by and then followed by a road game (except, of course, the home game on Dec. 30 against the Buccaneers, which ends the regular season.)  Conversely, every Falcons road game is preceded by and then followed by a home game (except, of course, the away game on Sep. 9 at the Chiefs, which begins the regular season.)

I doubt the Falcons has ever had this type of schedule.  I also suspect very few other teams has had this schedule arrangement.

I noticed it too. I don't like it. I like when they have a 2 or even a 3 game home stretch, because it helps them get in a routine and possibly go on a nice win streak.

Let's hope the team embraces it as a challenge, instead of seeing it a disadvantage, and conceding games. It's a great way for this team to stay sharp, never taking a game for granted, never getting lulled into complacency being at home for too long, nor worn down from several weeks on the road. It really could help us.

That's kind of creepy to see for the first time.  I don't know if it's good or bad to be honest with you...

I like it....

Good way for us to bounce back is we lose. We play better in the Dome.

What sucks is they stuck us with 3 teams coming off a bye week again.

I can tell you that that won't be a problem in 2012 the Falcons training wheels are off and they are ready to take the next step. I love the schedule because it will challenge the team and get them ready for the playoffs.

Some of you guys are being so negative about the whole thing. Traditions are made to be broken and this could be the year that not playing on the road well may come to an end. Despite having a home game and going away I believe that the guys are not even thinking as negative as some of you guys are.

I'm not tryin to be a butt, but we need to play better away from the dome. Gotta get more consistent in away games, particularly outdoors.

I wonder how many teas we'll be facing coming off a by week. The league screwed us on this 2 seasons ago.

I get ya. But look at the teams we play. We have no choice away or at home but to play better. If we dont we get ran over.
Im looking at this as we stand a better rebound chance from losing twice in a row. Which is a thing Smith is big on. The South vs the East and tack on SD and Denver and its not easy by any means. But this schedule could be a lot worse.

Atlanta plays 3 teams coming off their bye week.  Arizona, Oakland and Philly.  Andy Reid never losses after a Bye, FWIW.

I only see two games with teams coming off of a bye-- Raiders and Cardinals. We have our bye, the same week the Eagles have theirs, then we travel to Philly, so that doesn't count.

yeah but it kinda sucks. That gives us a full week of hearing nothing but Vick drama and Dunta hits by the media.

Yea we have 3 teams comin off bye but because we come off a bye it kinda cancels it no disadvantage. But I like the schedule. I think we can start strong. I just cant wait for week 2

Well you know there are always teams that underachiever after a big offseason of changes or whatever reason. Some of the teams we play will not be as good as expected.

I remember this being the standard type schedule for years and years.  Not sure but I thinK the 2/3 game homestands and ways trip only started about 15/20 years ago or so.
