I think Sid is the guy we should ask this about.. The only  20 - 25% of the snaps he sees.

I will say this.. Some felt Cliff Matthews was a good 3-4 OLB prospect

I think Cliff will get a chance. If he can get it together him and Sid will be a nice tandem

Wouldn't it blow everybody's mind if Matthews and Sid are the answer?  I'm not ready to drink that Kool-Aid, mind you, but that would be the best possible scenario for us.

This guy can get it done, I am confident that he and Sid will get more snaps than in previous years, and unlike last season,  Matthews will get PT this upcoming season.

I remember him playing well in pre-season before getting hurt.  Does anybody remember what the injury was?

I think it is obvious that our coaching staff has been quite terrible at player development over the last few years, time to turn it up a notch.

and my answer to that is yes they will.  Nolan does not play favorites and never has.  If you are better and earn the spot you will play some ball come sunday.

He showed flashes this pass year but he's very weak. Needs to get stronger.

That surprises me. I can't picture him covering anyone.

Simply put, imho, our player development blows something serious and that falls on Smitty

Nolan has a way of turning relatively unknown players or mid level draft picks into formidable pass rushers. I think Beirman will have a stellar year. I'm a total homer, but I think our pass rush will quickly become one of the best in the league and if Nolan can't get these guys to produce , then no one can. I haven't seen enough of Mathews in real game situations, but he seems like a perfect fit for when we run our 3-4 hybrid thing I heard about.

Why have we drafted multiple DEs, but we don't even develop them. I'm looking right at Smitty.

That Biermann is an NFL projected starting DE speaks volumes about Sidbury and Matthews current appraisals. I'm betting Nolan sorts this all out...his predecessor was incapable.
