What happened to this guy? I know he won't be a star, but do you guys think he can get it together and be good depth?

He played solid last year after having a poor playoff showing the year before. I think he is solid depth that can step in if need be.

Yeah he did play better, I always thought he would be a good 4 or 5.

I think what he's proved is that he's an outside-only cornerback. He's apparently not quick enough to deal with receivers in the slot.

I'm not sure it is his quickness but I think he may be easily confused in the middle of the field when the zone's responsibilities change. He would probably perform better in a man coverage only role.

The guy is blazing fast. Good upper body strength.
He plays outside as good as anyone we have. His problem is he gets lost playing nickel. When he blows coverage he doesn't take it well.

I like Owens, his rookie season I thought he would overtake grimes. The Owens on Owens interception was pretty awesome.

When he moved to nickel he didn't play well. He took it hard. I think he is best fit for outside, but I think the coaching staff wants him at nickel. I thought for sure franks would play inside and Owens out. His speed on special teams really impressed me. He chased down Harvin and another speedster last year. That was crazy fast. Had no clue he was that fast.

I think Owens showed some real guts and determination last year. He was getting slated by many but really came good further down the stretch as the season went on. The Harvin chase down was electric. I am glad he is on our roster and believe he will improve more this year.

Move him to safety. He's fast and he can tackle. He just gets beat on coverage too often

Yeah, the nickle position is sometimes harder to grasp than the corner positons. He has straight line speed, but I do think he lacks quickness/ smooth hips which compounds the problem. He can't diagnose the play quick enough and then doesn't have the agility to make up for it.

Owens plays way better on the outside than he does when they play him in the nickle.

saved 2 kick returns by himself last season, and played ok on the edge when injuries struck...he just isnt very good at the nickel still

maybe the UDFA from Notre Dame can stand out even more this preseason though?
