i tend to agree as well. Put in the right system & with a good o-line he could really step into the "elite class." Suprisingly mr. know it all, trent dilfer said Andy Dalton and Jay Cutler were next as well, which i definately dont agree with. Andy Dalton maybe later but definitely not this early. Either way now that hes in a new "stretch the field" type offense, i think we could really see a whole different player this year. If he works on his arm strength and a couple other basic skills, all you ryan haters will bite your tongue and wish you never said anything.
How do you think Matt will be when Dalton or Cutler won't.  I haven't watched Dalton, but Cutler has definitely shown that he wants to be the best and win the Superbowl type attitude - especially since last year's playoff embarrassment.

Cutler will be in his 7th year as a starter this year so if he isn't elite yet then there is little chance.  Ryan has shown that he has elite potential in leading several late game comebacks.  Unfortunately he has to step up in the playoffs to solidify himself among the top 10 QB's.

God, it makes me so angry when people take all the credBaselit from Tom Brady for winning 3 Super Bowls. He worked hard for everything he has, he outplayed Drew Bledsoe, he broke several records, and played his *** off through every single season. He's a HUGE asset to the team and without him, they wouldn't be nearly as good. Defense or not.

bledsoe got hurt, Brady came in and never looked back.
Cassell did just fine in when Brady got hurt. Now look at Cassell.coaching and system is everything

Matt Cassel took the Chiefs to a division title in 2010 with a stat line as good as any from Matt Ryan.  The opening game loss of Jamaal Charles hurt Matt last year.

if you need a late game comeback to beat a team thats not as good as yours how is that a good thing? I fail to see whats so great about late game comebacks against teams you should be dominating. Enjoy your morning wood though. Whatever makes your boat float.

2011 he only played in 9 games.
2010 he 3116 27 td, 7 int what is so impressive about it.

I'm pretty sure 25 teams would not want Matt Ryan over there starting QBs. However, the Browns, Dolphins, Bills, Raiders, Chiefs,   Cardinals, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks and Jets would all take Matt Ryan over their starting QBs in a heart beat.

Scratch the Jets off your list hun.

A passer rating high than Manning, Brees and anything Ryan has done.  Pretty conclusive proof that his big year in NE was not just because of the system, as suggested by an earlier poster

Good post....I need to read more of these to remind me of what Ryan has accomplished already and what he could potentially do with a more creative OC.

As for the posters who have a bizarre and unnatural dislike for Ryan....it's easy at this point to just ignore them. I can't understand Falcon fans who seem to take joy in Ryan's failures. If you would rather be right than have the Falcons/Ryan succeed then you're pretty much dead to me.

Touché, Gritz!

Aside from the obvious, agenda driven Ryan resenters, there are those too whom are much more clandestine in their effort to derogatively tender Ryan's accomplishments, while also sentencing him to failure before he is given a full and complete trial.

I actually respect more one who states "Matt Ryan sucks" or "is a terrible QB" more than one who disguises their true feelings behind a cloak of impartiality to be more liked or accepted here. Never have I liked a person that speaks out of both sides of their mouth or tries to appear diplomatic or apolitical for universal acceptance...these are the dweebs we find most unappealing in business, aren't they?

Matt Ryan needs a solid OL more than more "offensive weapons." Like Peyton or Brady, he's smart and decisive enough to move the ball down the field if given time. And in the end, if Ryan fails to meet his full potential as a Falcon QB, it will be because Falcon management sacrificed solid, long-term growth by building a stout OL at the cost of pursuing instant gratification of signing so many "weapons" that Ryan barely has time to pick from.

As predicted when I saw the thread title, this is filled with the usual suspects doing all they can to detract from anything positive said or believed about Ryan.  As far as the assertion that Ryan could become elite..I could see it, but it will take more in the playoffs to prove this.

For some sad and self-serving reason, they don't want him to become elite...this would make them look foolish on here.

No one truly knows he will become "elite," whatever this really means (he's by most all measurements a top 10 NFL QB), but I'm so grateful that so many more on here want Matt Ryan to be the best, regardless of their current appraisal of his few shortcomings.

ive heard it all now. If ryan fails its wont be because of his own limitations? Lol you already have him in canton and if he doesnt make it its because someone held him back. I thought paulitik was bad.

did you know youd never be a good nfl qb or was it a shock when you were dropped from the practice squad for a long snapper?
