with these three CB signing of what PFF considers the cream of the crop cashing in on a big pay day with other teams or their teams it is making Grimes deal expensive.Webb just cash in on his deal reported today.

Ravens agreed to terms with LCB Lardarius Webb on a six-year, $52.74 million contract, including a $10 million signing bonus.
He'll make $18 million in the deal's first two years, and $33.5 million in the first four. Per Pro Football Focus, Webb didn't allow a single touchdown pass in 2011, and opposing quarterbacks posted a miserable 55.6 passer rating on throws into his coverage. Also a playmaker, Webb recorded eight interceptions, including three in the playoffs and had 23 pass breakups. One of the best young corners in football, Webb doesn't turn 27 until October.

They are all a bunch of over paid cry babies. Cops dont get paid half of their salary and they actually end up dying on the job. These chumps just get hurt

Seems the new CBA puts Grimes and other Franchised Tagged players at a disadvantage.

Franchise money is guaranteed...not to much of that in the NFL for players.  Webb got a 10mil signing bonus, seems hard for Grimes to pass up.

I don't think we have any intentions of signing Grimes long-term.

they get paid more then Troy Polomalu, yet they do not cover as much field as troy...yeah I am scratching my head at this. If grimes thinks he is worth 10 a year, then he is joking himself. Players are pricing themselves right out the league.

These players dedicate their entire lives to this one sport, work their *** off, kept their grades up throughout school and made their high schools, colleges and franchises thousands/millions/BILLIONS of dollars. For what the owner and staff makes, they deserve some of that salary. Cops get a portion of the money they make for the county they work for, just like NFL players get a portion of what they make for the NFL/team they play for. Whining because players who have worked just as hard as you do get paid millions is like crying over spilled milk.
Get over it.

The $52 million is just for show; it's the $10 million guaranteed that needs to be focused on, because that's what the franchise is on the hook for.

$9 million a year over the first 2 years isn't that bad if we're talking about a top tier corner.

And I can just about promise you that he won't see the whole contract before he is cut or has to quietly re-structure.

They can be considered overpaid but the reality is that those numbers are right in line with the market for potential #1 CBs.  CB position along with DE is the highest value defensive position thats why you see DEs getting close QB money and CBs getting close to DE money.  Those guys are playmakers and can make more impact than any other position on defense.  MLB is probably next.

Lol, they are still over paid. Never said they didn't work hard. What the owners make is different, they own the franchise! That would be like you telling your boss you want what he makes cause you work hard, he would laugh in your face. 50Mil fo 5-6 years to play a sport is over paid. Like it or not. Personally I do not care what they make but, it does bother me when they get greedy and think they are entitled to it. Why you think the game tickets, jerseys, clothing, and etc are so **** expensive now and i hear more people complain about the price of these things. No need for you to get upset over what someone else makes. Because more or less, you will not see any of it. Show me one cop, fire fighter, FBI agent, DEA agent, Border patrol agent, etc that makes a million + a year. Difference is, these people risk thier lifes every day for us to be free and safe not entertain us. With that being said, I will still watch the game and love it....

I was thinking the same thing.  Franks and Owens both played pretty well on the outside when given the chance toward the end of last season... they both seem much better suited to play LCB or RCB than to be forced into the nickel.  I'm definitely expecting us to grab a nickel corner in Round 2 or 3 this year.  And so I could definitely see letting Grimes walk next year and having Franks or Owens (or even Walls) take his place on the outside.

And it's not that I don't think Grimes is good - I think he's great, he's one of my favorite players - it's just that I'm not sure he's worth that kind of #1 CB money that we're already (unfortunately) paying to Dunta.

What county, city, state do law enforcement officers receive a portion of the revenue generated for their agency?

If Grimes were 26, a contract like Webb's would make sense.  Being nearly 30 changes that.  He should get paid 6-8M for 3 years, and who knows from there.  He's actually one of my favorite players, but his type of game depends on great athleticism, and as that goes, he won't have the size/strength other attributes to make up for the loss in speed and quickness.  His game doesn't age well.

I don't advise Grimes getting over 7 mil/year.

Are u still gonna buy tickets, jerseys, beer, food and parking? If so STFU!! Seems like you're mad that you are in a thankless job. Blame your parents for not pushing you to be something that makes lots of money! Ask yourself this question: Would you pay $50 to watch a police officer patrol the community live? Would you pay $15 for a beer while watching said officer patrol the community? Would you pay $20 to park really close to the officers community? Would you pay $300 for that officer's cop uniform AND wear it in public? And if you were a business, would you pay millions of dollars to advertise your business during the commercials of said police officers shift that is filming live? Didnt think so! Athletes get paid millions because they generate BILLIONS! They should be getting more if you ask me! Especially college athletes! So think about this the next time you open your mouth about how much an athlete makes! Also keep in mind, almost ANYONE can become a cop, DA, fireman etc....only about 2,000 people play professional football per year. U mad? Lol

if he was allowed to smash any perp's face he wanted to with a billy club then yeah i'd pay to see that. also plenty of people watch the TV show COPS enough viewership that it's been airing for 20 years or so and i'm sure FOX has made a killing off of the advertising and syndications. unfortunately for police officers they aren't in a free market they are paid with tax payer money. so it's apples and oranges and a completely retarded argument
