Lets not pretend that Mexico is a safe travel spot at this moment. Lets forget the tax payers $$$ flying out the window to protect the Presidents daughter, On SPRING BREAK in Another country. Its not like, there's no cool place in America, where its safer, where money would go towards rewarding our economy. No, Obama sends his daughter, at tax payer expense and a whole lot of secret service agents, whom I presume have NOTHING better to do then sit on a teenager in Mexico, with the Mexican police, locking down a town.
I ask. Is it the tax payer that does not pay for this? Does this fly in the face of wisdom when our economy is in shambles? Why cannot Obama pay for this expense?
This is just another insensitive move by this man. Another vacation for his family, on our dime, before He moves out in Dec. I find this very troubling but I'm sure the folks here will call me all kinds of names, although Moses has now put out a bounty for responding, and this will not matter.
25 Secret service agents. Thats just great. Party ON Mr. Obama.

If his daughter would have went to Florida for Spring Break there is two things I am certain of:
1. She would have 25 Secret Service people with her (she IS the daughter of the President)
2. Diesel would still complain that she is costing the tax payers money.

How  about this name the last President in the past 50 years that had children living in the White House and the Secret Service DID NOT PROVIDE PROTECTION TO THEM AT TAX PAYER'S EXPENSE.
Diesel when you discover the answer then you will understand why you are a fukking idiot and hypocrite.

Hey pdog. Are you telling me 25 secret service agents, escorting a presidents daughter on Spring break, is NOW in the constitutional requirements of US taxpayers? Please link your info that 25 agents would companion said daughter on spring break to montana, seattle, Orlando. The agency would most likely send 3 agents. Again, where did it become absolute that a child of the president can be afforded this luxury in the 1st place? Its not like they ALL haven't been dining and vacationing in Hawaii and all over the world, already..... I guess its just Obama and his time to fleece America again.

The Secret Service simply protects the First Family and various other politicians. I'm sure you'll have an aneurism when you find out they protect ex-presidents for twenty years after they leave office. Yep, that's right. Bill Clinton still has Secret Service protection.

I'm aware of that. The presidental family does NOT have carte blanche to travel, vacation endlessly on the tax payers dime. It also smacks of calousness during our recession and fiscal irresponsibilities at this moment.

I really don't like to commit tu quoque, but it's not like this is anything new. I remember quite clearly when Bush and his family went to his ranch for weeks on end in the middle of the quagmire that Iraq was. I'd agree that the Obama's vacation a bit too much, but it's not like it's a new phenomenon from the White House.

I think the President and his faily have every right to go on vacation, and that his kids have every right to go on Spring Break.

This whole thread is stupid.

I think what everyone is missing (intentionally or not) is the importance of perception. What the president does in his spare time matters to many, and Obama just doesn't give a s**t about that one way or the other. You can make just as many pro arguments for that philosophy as against, but I think that is what get some on here (and don't kid yourself, all around the country) fired up regarding the many lavish vacations and their accompanying expense in such a tough economic time for the country.

Paraphrase Uncle Ben's (Spiderman not the rice) words to Obama..."Just because you can go on vacation doesn't mean you always should".

Nothing wrong with wanting or even expecting the president to lead by example. That said, I don't care either way, but I get the point.

I think living one's life based on the infinite number of irrational perceptions that may arise is a complete waste. Just because people 'might' be upset that the President's daughter goes on Spring Break does not mean she shouldn't go on Spring Break.

Based on you reasoning, no one should ever do anything.

C'mon, there is quite a difference between just "anyone" and a president leading the country during a time of recession.

Sure, I still think the President should go on vacation. It's a brutal job. And I think his family has every right to go on vacation as well. It's just not a big deal.

The Bush's OWN ranch. Thats not a vacation and it served as the Southern Wing of the WH. The comparison is not there.

How can we as Americans sit by and allow a young girl to take a vacation? How can we allow for her to be guarded? Doesn't Obama know that the only way to raise your children correctly is to keep them under lock and key and filter their world for them?

When taxpayers are paying for these vacations is it not subject for discussion? This family is constantly vacationing, again on our dime. Its a concern when we are being takin advantage of in this realm, this reality. Again, the daughter does NOT have carte blanche to our money. The vacations are Continued drag on the national debt and recession. And lets not even contimplate going to Mexico. Hells bells why not Tahiti?
