spoon is my dude & I can see him easily becoming a top 5, not just olb, but LB overall. If so how soon? Just curious on opinions.

Maybe soon, but there are a lot of really good LB's.  Spoons arrow is pointing directly up though.

Most people overrate those 34 OLBs like Suggs and Harrison. I mean that in the sense that all they do is rush the passer and when asked to drop into coverage they are disasters lol. 43 OLBs don't get the love they deserve.

As for Spoon becoming a top 5 LB... We'll see. The potential is there for sure, but he needs to start making more impact play i.e. forced fumbles and some INTs. Maybe a couple of sacks as well.

The 34 OLB's should be considered as DE's when Pro Bowl voting is done.

I see him as a guy that can hang with the best of em. Nolan will coach him into a monster.

When the Falcons drafted him I didn't know that much about him, all I saw was a bio video and the commentators talking about him. I thought at that time "This dude is going to kick butt!".

If he continues on the path he took last year with his work ethic I will be surprised if he isn't, I know it's really early in his career, but he's showed some dominating promise at his position last year at times in my opinion.

As a 4-3 OLB, he's already Top 5.

according to PFF Spoon is a top 5 4-3 OLB but has  two   weakness as a 4-3 OLB. One  is his lack of tackling skills to wrap up we saw that in the CHI game when he failed to wrap up Forte and helped to contribute to that 50 yard TD He graded out at 35 for the 2012 season. Although he was getting better down the stretch he still suffers in that area. Also I believe that we will see improvement in the area of coverage as he graded out as 26th. this was something fairly new to him in 2011 but with the help of Nolan Spoon will get better in both areas. As far as his abilities to stop the run and or pass rush productivity he did very well in 2011 grading out in run stopping in the top 3 behind Eric Henderson of MIN and Lance Briggs of the CHI and was 6th over all in pass rush productivity with 3 sacks. I look for those sack numbers to pick up in 2012. We may get some Kam Wimbley numbers out of Spoon in 2012 and I'm expecting him to be the sleeper to wake up the dead whom seem to forget that he is on the team when they always want to point out the Falcons issues. If he gets that tackling together some bones will be crashed and he will not need a bounty to do it. Still yet he is a top 5 OLB but if he works those two areas out with Nolan during the off season he could be putting up probowl Numbers.

Pure LB, maybe.  LB overall? Doubtful.  By pure LB I mean 4-3 LBs and 3-4 ILBs.  There are too many guys that are "LBs" in 3-4 defenses that will always rank above Spoon: Orakpo, Ware, Suggs, Woodley, Harrison, Wimbley, Shaun Philips, Matthews, Aldon Smith.

Looking at the "pure" guys, you've got Patrick Willis, Jon Beason, Jerod Mayo, David Harris, Ray Lewis, Lawrence Timmons, Brian Cushing, DeMeco Ryans, Von Miller, Derrick Johnson, Sean Lee, Urlacher, and Navorro Bowman.

Tough, bur I could envision a top 5 ranking (in some order) as: Willis, Beason, Bowman, Mayo, Weatherspoon.  Tough to keep Von Miller out, and tough to keep Cushing and Timmons out.

he may have a weakness but i know as fact tackling is not 1 of them, srry but you're wrong about that

I think he steps up to All Pro in Nolans scheme. The dude is everywhere and Nolan will get 5-8 sacks out of him imho. The dude oozes talent and i fkn loved it when TD drafted him. Almost made up for the bum picks like Baker and Jerry...

Why not top 1? He has the playmaking ability and all the team spirit in the world.. when Ray Lewis retires he has a shot at being the best.
Definitely the most underrated LB in the league though.
