Kinda scary that there's not a tackle in the top half of that list.

People always say that you need to build an OL with a great tackle to protect your QB's blindside and then go from there.

I disagree. I think the great OL's are built by building around a great center. Look at all the best OL's over the decades in the NFL and the one thing they all have in common is outstanding centers.

There is one offensive lineman that is available, but I'm curious about WHY he's available. He played for a few years with Philly and so I didn't follow him while he was there. He wasn't signed with a team this year until late, and then only did short stints with 2 teams. I don't even think he made it to the regular season. I'm interested to know why, but am still wondering what his current abilities are. I'm referring to Max Jean-Gilles. He's a nice big body that could slot in at RG for us, IF he can still play. Any have any information?

Evan Mathis is going to be a free agent...I don't care if it means moving Blalock to RG, he needs to be #1 on our list of people to target.  He was the best G in the league this year.  0 sacks allowed and only 15 total pressures combined.  Not only that, but he's an incredible run blocker too.  Like I said, best in the league.  And he's going to be a free agent?  If Philly doesn't re-sign him, he needs to be wearing Red and Black next year.  If they do keep him, or another team decides they want him more than we do (financially, of course), there are still some great names on that list as far as Guard prospects go.

Nicks, Scott, Rinehart and Grubbs all stand out as upgrades from our current G situation.  I don't think anybody could complain about us picking up a great G and C during free agency and using our earliest pick (whether we settle for 2nd round or do some wheeling and dealing to get a 1st) on a LT.

On the other hand, Demetrius Bell could be a great LT.  He started at LT for the first few games for the Bills when they were undefeated.  I haven't done a ton of studying but that's got to spell something good for the guy.

Another guy I would look at for LT is Jared Gaither. I really like him.

If we spent huge money to get Gaither, Grubbs and Hartwick along the OL I would cream my pants.

Jean-Gilles played for the Panties at the end of the season.  Not sure how much or how effective.  Interesting not on him is that he under went lap band surgery to lose weight.  He was over 400 lbs.  might be why he has not been able to latch on and catch his footing in the league so far.

Wow. 400 pounds is crazy. That WOULD be a legit reason why he hasn't really played any. I know he was just over the 300 mark or so when he came into the league. I remember he was pretty good for UGA and then played well for the first few seasons with Philly.

Because McNeil wasn't a free agent. He was a cap cut by the Chargers.

Yeah. A little surprising.
