SEASON TICKET HOLDERS

30 posts in this topic

As a 5 year season ticket holder, I have started to question the value of being a season ticket holder. What added value do we get for being season ticket holders? What makes us different from Falcons Fans that purchase tickets from ticketmaster or get them from there jobs or friends? I have thought long and hard about this question and still no answer.

As a STH(season ticket holder) we pay the same amount as someone who purchase all 10 home games from ticketmaster.

We all enter the dome through the same entrance.

We all pay the same amount to park in the dome lots.

We all pay the same for food and drinks in the dome.

We all pay the same for items in the 365store...

The only thing STH get that other fans don't get is a STH sticker and a yearbook. Lets take the yearbook away because they were giving the yearbook away for free at the last home game.

I'm asking these questions because you can buy tickets from Stubhub or a scalper in any section for 25% - 50% less than what a STH paid for them. I understand that the organization is having a major meltdown this year but as Fans and STH were getting the short end of the stick. First we got rid of Mora, then here comes the VICK issue, then Shockley goes down, then Harrington and Byron raise your blood pressure, then Grady Jackson gets cut, and now Petrino leaves the team after 13 games. With all of this going on STH and Falcons Fans still hang on but the Organization staff has failed to address the Fans / STH in public.

I plan on keeping my tickets but it makes upset when you travel to other stadiums and see STH going in through a special entrance, STH tell you that they got this item for being STH, other team STH tell you that they get special discounts etc...

WHAT DO WE DO, BUY IN 2009 OR WAIT?

Blank said in the press conference they'd be addressing those issues during the off season.

The good news is: The team has nowhere to go but up :)

I buy ... win or lose ... I support my team ... I do not need Blank to sale this team now ... He and our beloved Falcons need our help ... if anytime ... NOW is when they need it the most ... just my opinion ... you do what your heart tells you to do ...

Well my heart is telling me to dump one of my tickets and move to a cheaper section until the owners give something back to the FANS... Unless we make a stand about our frustrations, the organization will continue to overlook us...

Do you realize we don't have an organized chant after we get a 1st down. We have some sections saying "Move those chains" or sections doing the "First down" motion and others in the endzone waving them to a touchdown... What happen to the halftime shows... Halftime is now used to catch a nap from tailgating all morning. What happen to the Marching bands outside the gates.... What happen to lunch with with the Falcons on the field....

Everything is being taken away from us and were not getting anything back... This is like buying a motorcycle to get good gas mileage but after numerous fill ups you find that your getting less than what other motorcycles are getting.... What do you do? Keep the motorcycle or stop driving it for a while hoping things will turn around.

I feel ya on that ... Halftimes have been rather boring lately ... Luda on that Monday night was sick ... since then ... it's all been down hill ... What happened to that band that used to be on the field ??? I liked that ...

I'm gonna renew but I agree that since we're making a commitment to the team the team should reciprocate is some way. Maybe I'm just a stupid idiot that loves abuse but I keep thinkin that next year will be better. Can't be worse than this year. What's sad is that my friends are buying tickets for half of what I paid and sitting is better sections.

Apart from the fact that it's now been made public that season ticket prices will be "adjusted" for next season, a significant factor for me in deciding whether or not to renew will be who the Falcons hire as head coach. If they bring in a guy with the marquee value and resume of a Mike Singletary, for example, I think that, combined with the adjustment in ticket prices, would go a long way toward regaining the trust and confidence of the fan base. If they bring in a "no-name" (comparatively speaking), I'm afraid the fans will remain as jaded as they are right now and it will take even longer to get them back on board.

I agree with you Bankerbird but you know how they are going to play the game. Normally we have to pay our deposit and balance before the NFL draft. You would think Blank would hire a coach ASAP and also report the new price of season tickets.

I guess I'm not really upset at the prices, I just want to get more for being a STH. We don't benifit from being a STH at all. Being a STH gives A. Blank his money up front. It may sound simple but we don't even get free game day programs...

GIVE US SOMETHING FOR BEING STH OTHER THAN HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.

Ive thought about my Tickets for next year. I honestly dont know what I will do. If I buy my tix for the season I am locked into the two preseason games (which is a waste of money) and eight home games. We tailgate before and sometimes after games It is usually a full day away from home. Tickets will be cheap and plentiful for years to come. I guess I'm tired of feeling like as a STH we are being treated like patsy's

Maybe I'll join the revolution and drop my tickets. Who knows, right now I'm just really pissed off.

As a randomly chosen STH to sit of the Fan Advisory Board I am hoping to gain some insight into what the organization may consider for next season. I will be attending a Focus Group next Tuesday and hopefully will have something to report afterwards.

I have been thinking long and hard about renewing next year and I will. In fact I have to try and get another seat in my section, one or two rows away so that my wife and I can add our daughter to the mix.

That said, only being an STH for the Falcons (since '02), I do not know what kind of benefits other organizations provide their STH's. I think we should lobby the FO. PM me or Post as I will be composing a well-worded letter (so far they've responded to other inquiry's that I've sent), and then we'll see if Arthur stands by his model, "listening to his customers and providing them the product and service they desire."

Same here. I realize that the team cannot win every year so the majority of my beef is with the drastic ticket price increases year after year.

STH since 1996, and I am starting to wonder if it is really worth it. This feeling started towards the end of last season, before the Vick stuff. Tailgating is the only thing I enjoy, and I'm not sure paying $700 to tailgate will continue. I will renew if I like the coaching hire, and the draft.

I also have been trying to figure out what to do.... I know I will probably renew but my biggest thing is that there is no advantage to coming out of the pocket in one lump sum. If anything, we have a disadvantage b/c of seasons like this where you can buy 4 lower level tickets for 100.00.

I think it needs to be addressed and dealt with. The only good thing is that with an owner like Arthur I think he would be interested in making some season ticket holder accommodations.

i guess we shall see..........

I buy season tickets to attend the games. I am no better than anyone that buys and individual ticket. I don't deserve to be in a special club with a secret handshake. You pay to see football games live, and I am psyched about renewing my tickets for next year. There are so many people jumping ship that I am going to get GREAT seats!

I am waiting to see how much the price drop is.

In all honesty I will probably renew since I don't live too far from the Dome.

I might try to upgrade like Rev but I really like some of the guys in my section.

I hear ya Rev but I think Dipper has a few goood points....namely what are the benefits of purchasing season tickets as opposed to single game tickets? ....besides the obvious in possible seat selection? Although all indications seem to point that there may well be plenty of good single-game seats avail. next year so the question remains.

I don't think anyone is looking for secret hand shakes but give us something...you really don't agree?

I too have been a STH for five years and enjoy the camaraderie I have with some of the people in my section(302 row 7). I have three seats that started at 19.00 that are now 42.00. It is simple economics for me, 1200+ for tix, 75-80 on refreshments eight times a year and 100.00 for parking pass. I will need a small loan to continue renewing at this rate. However, I do LOVE the FALCONS, so I guess I'll being applying for a small loan. BankerBird, can u help me out? (lol) GO BIRDS!

As a future season ticket holder I want Metallica for a half-time show along with Playboy bunnies in my lap -- if I can't have that I'll take a sticker and yearbook instead :w00t:

I sit in 328 myself. I feel you on the camaraderie that you have with people in your section. We are all like family and most of us have been there since at least 2002. It's always nice to see people come back, talk with the famililar faces and see kids grow up.

My suggestions to you is these... cut back on the refreshments and start taking Marta. I spend maybe $80 the entire season on food since I don't drink alcohol in the Dome and a two marta passes for the season costs aproximately the same amount of what it costs to park at two preseason games and the home opener. That's the way I've made it more affordable and justified the price increases. In addition, you save on gas and time taking Marta to the games. Also, consider opening a savings account at a credit union and have money automatically deducted each pay period for your tickets. Your $1200 could be paid by putting away as little as $23 per week, or $46 biweekly. That's how I take care of my big expenses and never really miss the money. Most people spend $23 a week on lunch over a 2-3 day period.

Again, I am unsure why the excessive angst has to be such a big deal. I keep thinking threads like these are not observations about the current affairs, but a cry for attention. I say that because not many of us expected much this year.......Before Vick was suspended, before D Hall's melt down, before Grady Jackson was cut, before all the injuries and certainly before Petrino skipped town. It's like knowing you are already late for work, then having a flat tire on the way, then wanting to sell your car because it had a flat tire. What do some of you do in real life when things go bad? It concerns me that when the Falcons struggle in a season of unusual, one of a kind circumstances, some of you go in to a "end of the world" mode. Life is much easier without the drama.

I don't think this was a wooo's me thread. I think the poster posed a reasonable question: What is the advantage of being a season ticket holder.....and besides knowing what seat you will be in every week there isn't one RIGHT NOW. In my case my section is full of new people every week and a lot of the time opposing fans. When you have made sacrifices to get season tickets and then find out after the fact the the same ticket you paid 52.00 is going for 50 - 70% less on stub hub and ebay it is discouraging.
